Why is it?

I know this will aound weird but im 3 weeks post op and some days i feel like i can eat what ever is put in front of me and others i have 2 or 3 mouth fulls and thats it (its more less then more) if you know what i mean? But still it feels odd. Like being able to sit and eat a huge chunk of Water melon. I know its mostly water but in comparison to other foods its a huge serve.

I am 6 weeks out. There are times I can eat 3oz and other times I can only eat a few bites depending on the day. I was shocked I could eat several cups of popcorn but sometimes cant finish 3oz of fish. I will not continue with the popcorn...My dietcian also says that even a year out you will be able to eat more carbs/snacks then chicken of meat. I guess that is why we have to be careful. AHH i miss fruit going to try a little soon. Good luck!

I am 11 weeks out and the same way. Some days I can eat more than others. I just listen to my body (tummy) and stop when im full. I have also noticed a difference in different proteins and how some are much easier to digest like fish vs. chicken, turkey or beef.

Hi Sarah,

I'm 8 days out this happened to me just today ( for the first time). I had been able to drink as much as I want and I started on Cream of Wheat and thinned oatmeal a few days ago with no problem. Today I could not eat more than a couple of tiny bites without discomfort-- which surprised me because this was the only time I've had a truly distinct uncomfortable feeling. I tried again later and felt the same thing. I ended up just going back to my regular Protein Shake, which was fine.

Our restrictions are primarily for solid foods. liquids pass through the stomach pretty quickly and therefore aren't really affected by our sleeves.

Another thing to consider is foods that are almost all water, like watermelon, are much in themselves like drinking & eating at the same time. The water contained in them will flush the fiberous portion through our sleeves much more quickly. Portion Control is even more important with these, because they are so easy to "cheat" with.

The more dense the food you are eating the better your restriction works.
