No jewelry AT ALL?

Is no jewelry at all allowed? I can't get my wedding band off. Will I have to have it cut off? I really don't want to, it's my original I was married in!

What they told me was that if I really needed to wear my ring, they would cover it with tape. I gave it to my DH to keep for me.

Tape also has something to do with static electricity in the OR.

Also just think about how in a couple months how you will be resizing

it cause it falls off

The major reason for taping your ring on is so it won't end up inside your body. I'm an RN and have worked in surgery before. They don't want any foreign objects in the OR because of the possibility of them falling off and ending up inside of your body. They keep a very close count of everything they use during surgery to be sure they don't leave anything inside of you. They have to count everything when they are finished. I know you've heard the horror stories of mistakes made during surgery. They are just trying to prevent any problems.

I would try to get the ring off if you can. IV sometimes makes my fingers swell.....you don't need anything else to worry about.

Good luck....

You can't have any jewelry on because of the cautery they use during surgery- it can cause major burns. That is why you can probably keep your wedding band on with the tape on it. Just my 2 cents...
