Hello from Somerset, England

Hi , I have been browsing this forum for a few days and have found lots of useful information.

My name is Tanya, I am 38 , married with four children. I had my lap band surgery on the 26/9/06. So far everything seems to be going well, although I am feeling hungrier as the days go on. I am due to have my first fill on 3/11/06 and can't wait to truly get this show on the road:)

I finally decided to have the band after yet another embarrising day at work, I am a midwife and had just delievered a baby to a mum who was squatting, so I was lying on the floor, baby delievered and I passed her up to a delighted mum, then had to get her partner to help me up !!!

I started at 303lbs and will not get on the scales until I have my first fill,

however, my trousers are already getting looser.

Looking forward to chatting to you over the coming months.

Tanya x

Hi Tanya and welcome to LBT. I hope you post here often with us so we can get to know you.

I have to say, it must be a wonderul job that you have. I can't imagine anything more wonderful than helping to deliver a new life into the world.

It is great that your trousers are already getting looser. Just remember, right now is a time for healing, not weight loss. Once November gets here and you have that first fill and start feeling restriction, then things will really start happening.

I know you will love your band, I love mine and would do it all over again in a heartbeat if I had to.

Hi Susan, Thanks for the welcome, and yes, I do have a wonderful job, I only qualified a year ago, and love every minute of it.

:faint: :D Glad to hear you are doing well. I am from Guildford, Surrey in England and our family love Somerset. We have been down there many times (twice to buy dogs - a Labradoodle and a Shih Tzu) and several times on holiday.

We always stay in the same B and B in Porlock and just love walking the Moors with the dog.

I was banded September 20th so am a new comer like yourself. At first I too lost weight but now 3 weeks on I am constantly hungry and although I am eating more slowly I am still eating far too much. I see the dietician next week and then hopefully I will be scheduled for a fill.

Being told just to eat less or I will not lose weight is not helpful nor is the remark after a meal "well you must be full now". I say "yes" but I mean "no". If I was full I would not be overweight in the first place and have to have had the band fitted.

So roll on to the first fill so that for the first time in my life I will feel full.

Good luck and thinking of you

Labradoodle.

Hello I am considering the Lap Band and I've been doing my research, but I feel a little nervous. I live in Memphis, TN and I'm going to the seminar on 10/16, but last night I dreamed I was at the seminar and some how they begin to prep me for the surgery! Man, I was sooo nervous...my mom told me NOT to do it, but I'm looking forward to being small (10/12). I'm a 16 now pushing an 18 and miserable! My friend is a RN and she said I'm taking the easy way out...but she takes Adipex. I was on Adipex also and my body could not tolerate it and on top of that I was hospitalized because of it. The doctor told me not to take any type of diet pill agan, but I didn't listen and got sick again. So I'm at the end of my rope and I grab hold to a BAND!
