Dehydration?

I'm over 4 months post op and yesterday I went to the great State Fair of Texas. First, I am so happy to say I rode rides with no problems and walked all over the place without getting worn out :)

I think the excitement of such a wonderful day got the best of me. I didn't drink much water or liquids at all. I had maybe half a bottled water and half a powerade. I woke up at 3am with a horrible pounding headache. I have been fighting that headache all day. I think I must have dehydrated myself. Who knew it was so easy :(

I am jumping in here for some advice too... I am 8 days post op and I KNOW I have not gotten in enough liquids. I woke up this morning with a pounding headache, and am wondering if I should just go to the er and get fluids or if I can realistically drink enough to re-hydrate myself. My pee is looking concentrated and my skin is a wee bit dry. Knowing what you have been through, what would you do? Can one re-hydrate with 64ozs of water/gatorade in one day?

I was able to rehydrate but I am 4 months out. I would not have been able to get enough fluids in at 8 days out. I could barely get in 40 oz of water by two weeks.

At eight days out I would say go to the ER and get fluids. Especially if your feeling the effects of it. You can start drinking some G2 to help but I'm afraid it won't be enough.

If you can drink 64 oz in a day, I think you could rehydrate yourself.

What are you getting in?

I hope you do get hydrated and feel better!!!
