I am getting sleeved by DR. Alvarez in Mexico in late December..did anyone who was self pay get their DR. to fill out FMLA paperwork for time off? I know how FMLA works I have done it before but never a DR. from out of the country. Thanks for any input. :-)

I did not have to do that but just wanted to let you know that I was sleeved by DrA on 8/02. He is a really wonderful man and I am sure he will help you with the paperwork you need.

I'm not sure how FMLA works if the doctor is out of country. May not change anything but regardless it's worth a try. Forward your FMLA paperwork to the Dr. and then you'll know for sure. Good luck!

Thanks! I'm excited..my surgery is scheduled for December 27th! Im impressed with how fast Dr. A's process is...its crazy!

Hmm I don't know about out of country Dr either. I would ask him and if not, is your Primary care doctor aware you are having surgery?? or a

psychiatrist or Nurse Practitioner...basically anyone else who may be able to legally sign?

Wow! That means you will be traveling the day after Christmas :). I chose mine for the middle of summer so it would be warm weather. I actually decided late May and the soonest I could get in was August. No jumping through insurance hoops with Dr. A. You will love him and Dr. Gabe, Jessica and Jesus. They are all very kind and take very good care of you. My surgery was so great. I woke up in no pain. I hope you have as great of an experience as I had !
