Steri-Strips

So I had my surgery Aug. 1. When can I take my steri-strips off & start putting mederma on my incisions? Any thoughts on this? I don't want to take them off before I'm supposed to.

I was told to let mine fall off on their own. You don't want them to get infected by messing with them before it's time. I waited until my two week check up and most had fallen off. The doctor gave me the okay to take off the last one.

My post op discharge papers say they can be removed 7-10 days. By then I had a follow up appointment on day 8 and the surgeon removed them.

I was told to take them off on the third post op day to prevent scaring. I've been a nurse forever, and have never heard of taking them off that soon. I did as I was told and had no issues.
