Hi!

I am a future bandster. I go for my seminar tomorrow. My GI doctor has told me that I must have this surgery. I have fought my weight all of my life and look forward to the day when it will not be an issue. I am prepared to self-pay and get this done ASAP! DH and I already know that insurance won't pay so we are realistic. After years of self-paying for fertility treatments, we are ready to pay for this last procedure.

Welcome Cyndy! Good luck on your lap band journey - and as an aside, some people have a positive change in fertility with weight loss from banding. So who knows, it could end up doing double duty for you!

Welcome to LBT!! I'm new myself although my wife had the surgery this past May. My insurance does pay for gastric bypass, but I'm still researching if they will approve the band (we have different ins since my DW was banded). This is a great place to start your journey. Ask lots of questions and do lots of research. I wish you the very best!!

Leila,

Actually after suffering from infertility for 10 yrs (yep 10 yrs), God blessed us with a healthy DD in July of 2003. I lost 100 lbs (doctor supervised) to enable me to conceive (plus through the miracle of IVF that God has given us). I was able to keep the weight off until my hysterectomy late last year. So, I see this as the final step in the journey from my messed up endocrine system.

Congratulations Cyndy on your daughter and on working towards your goals, life is full of trials, but when the blessings come, it all seems worth it doesn't it. Here's to health!

Hi Cyndy!

Welcome to LBT! I bet your DD is beautiful...you'll have to post a picture once you get to know us a little better! Good luck with your journey to Bandland and I hope you find all of the support and information you need here.
