ABC September Chat

Well ABC (August Band Crew) members we have made it to the end of our banding month. Each and every member has been very supportive during our procedures and the post-op period, but now is when we will REALLY need to lean on each other for support more than ever. Now the real work of working the band begins and I am sure we will all run into a hurdle or two or three (you get the point) along the continued journey. So, here we go!

Please post your short term weight loss goal for October 1st. I think little goals are where we should start for now so we don't get too overwhelmed.

:gluck: and :D to all.

Pebbles,

Those staples are still imprinted on my mind and my belly.lol. Congradulations on the 48.5.:clap2:    :)

You should be so proud. We are rooting for ya girl. Oh, by the way how do I change my darn ticker?

Oh, by the way how do I change my darn ticker?

Unfortunately you have to go back to the ticker website and create a new one with the new information, then paste it back into your signature.

Thanks Candy and Faybie!!! When I go back to tickerfactory I just change my weight it saves my ticker. So I put the new weight and click next and it gives me the new ticker.

Jamie you look great! What a difference already. I have lost a total of 46 lbs since last yr, 38 lbs through ww and 8 since the sx. I can't seen any difference like yours. You should feel very incouraged! :clap2:

Diane

Faybie, you look amazing!!! You're so beautiful!! I thought we had someone new on because I didn't recognize your avatar. I was looking for your cartoon chick!! LOL!!

Pebbles, your weight loss is outstanding!! Don't ever come down on yourself again. You're incredible!!!

Robin, I have to agree with the calorie thing too. When I upped my calories from about 750 to 900 or so, I started losing again. Of course, you may also need another fill. I noticed I did after about a week after my first.

I just had my second fill this morning. I'm definitely more restricted this time. He was filling while I was swallowing the fluoro (Blech!!!) and it actually came back up in my throat. The surgeon said I'll definitely feel more restricted this time.

My mother is having lapband surgery on Tuesday. I'm so happy for her. She's had a rough few years; two heart attacks, breast cancer, and two knee surgeries. She gained so much weight beween being unable to move and the medications she was given. I'll fill you all in on her progress as well.

Oh, something interesting my surgeon explained to me today. I asked him if the saline evaporates from the bands since I hear of people with good restriction eventually needing fills. He said that the saline does not evaporate but the fatty tissue around the stomach reduces as you lose, making the band looser. So, now you know. LOL!!

Have a great day ABC!!!!

What a great decision your mom has made. The surgery will be perfect to get her back on track to a healthy lifestyle. I am a cancer survivor as well thats why I have short hair, I have 14 months of hair growth. I know exactly what you mean about not being able to move and all of the medication having an affect on weight gain. In the last 2 months, I am starting to feel like myself again, pre-cancer. It's great!

Thanks Libra and Pelerojo for the kind words. Btw, I miss my cartoon chic too! LOL.

Faybie - What a difference! What a beauty! Keep it up girl!

Calories - I never heard anyone talk about the effect my metabolism would have on the number of calories I take in. I will jump up my calories for a few days and see what happens.

Digestion- I have noticed that my digestive tract and regularity are finally back to normal almost 2 months post-surgery. If this is what happens after minor surgery I can only imagine what happens after a major operation.

Faybie... beautiful!!!! I haven't taken any after pictures yet because I plan to do it on my 2 month (oct 3rd) 4 month (dec 3rd) 6 month, etc.

It'll be interesting.

Do we have any men in our ABC Crew??

Also faybie, I love your hair. I just had mine cut about that length and I dig it like crazy. I wish I had a pic of your haircut when I had mine done!

Pelorojo, you are so sweet! So funny though, I absolutely hate my hair, LOL. After the chemotherapy, it grew back in curly. I have had long straight hair all of my life. The curly hair has been an absolute shock to me. The funnier thing is.... I have only had one hair cut and that was in July right before the reunion.

Oh and um.... I am wearing one BROWN shoe and one BLACK shoe today =)

I will be taking the special bus home from work today.....

Faybie... you look amazing!! I definately see a lot of change in your face!

Thanks to everyone for your comments, its so encouraging when people notice it too, it means it's not all in my head lol

I have my first fill on monday and I am going to go ahead with it, I haven't had any restriction for a few days now and will power is not something I possess! I havent gained or lost anything in about 2 weeks now so I'm looking forward to seeing the scale move again! Wish me luck!
