Just got the word that my surgery was approved ,date set for Aug 9th , I was so excited I forgot to ask how many days in the hospital? and how long to take off from work?

My Surgery was done on a Tuesday and I was sent home early that Friday. It would honestly be best to discuss it with your Doctor though, he would be able to tell you exactly how long to take off depending on the type of job you have IE: driving/lifting restrictions etc..

My surgeon says 1-2 nights in hospital for VSG and recommends being out for two weeks, three if your job is more physical. I've read of folks in sedentary jobs who have gone back after a week, but if you're insurance is covering it, and your doctor recommends it... I'd take the two weeks to adjust to your new tummy.
