Damn Damn Damn

Ok...maybe that is a little much, but im freaking disappointed. I got approved by Kaiser for surgery....happy about that....but I am referred to Dr David Suh...n the soonest consult date is July 19th...I was really hoping to have had surgery by this day....Oh well... I guess by expecting this, is the reason I am disappointed with July 19th, guess that means surgery will be mid august ...... Damn damn damn!!..... Ok I feel better.... but on the flip side from start to surgery will be about 6 months exactly...so I can't complain....but I will say......Damn Damn Damn...ok im done!! Lol

Everything happens for a reason.......Think of it as getting your head ready.... I have seen too many think the surgery will fix their problems, you have to be MENTALLY ready to make the changes. Great that you got approved.

Time will fly trust me! I also got my surgery done through Kaiser. Got referred April 2011 & started August 2011 with the 12wk pre-op courses. Saw my surgeon in Jan 2012 and got operated Feb. 14, 2012 currently a little over 3 months post-ops and down 64lbs. Good Luck!

I have kaiser and they denied me twice.... At least you got the approval ! Congrats

August is a good time for surgery. That's when I had mine - I was able to enjoy my summer with family and then start off fall with my weight loss.

I know...thank u all for your replies...I said all of the above... I can njoy summer, at least it was approved, the time will pass, etc....I am grateful that all I have to pay is a 20.00 copay for surgery and not out of pocket...I am ok with the date...and the nurse gave me a open invitation to call daily to see there are any cancellations...so I might luck out...but now at least I know my next step

If it makes you feel any better.... I started process with Kaiser the end of Jan. and have called daily for appointments, jumped through every hoop that was even mentioned as quick as possible and am currently held up by the mental health exam that is over a month out because one of the 3 MFT's was transferred to another location- so they are way behind! The first available is June 25th, then I have to wait to be referred to one of 3 hospitals for surgery. May have been longer then you thought, but I was told going in to expect a year, so I guess we can not complain too much. I am hoping for end of August which would be 7 months or before if possible. I just keep calling and calling and calling .....

Ok...just a little...lol...what kaiser r u with??? Its crazy how calling to bug them to get in sooner is going to be a part of my daily routine...like brushing my teeth...good luck to u ...with getting a sooner appt...can u travel to another kaiser to get a sooner appt???

I live in Modesto and had to use the Fresno Kaiser. I guess I got lucky because I had only a 6 week exactly time frame from when I said yes to surgery until the day I had surgery. I'm sorry for those who are having the trouble getting approved.

So kaiser fresno do not require the 12 week option classes? That's crazy...I enjoyed the classes though..they do prepare you for what's to come...but I love your 6 week time frame! How are doing with your weight loss?

with getting a sooner appt...can u travel to another kaiser to get a sooner appt???

I have asked my PCP and the Bariatrician that gave me approval last week and both said... you can not switch. 4 months ago when I began the 12 weeks of OPTIONS the only surgery location offered was St. Bernadine's- now they are sending all approvals for surgery to a central scheduler and you receive a call to select from one of 3 surgery centers to try and speed things up.

I just keep telling myself.... God is in control not me... it will be ok. Then I pick up the phone and call again LOL
