Cupcakes Make Me Happy

So in my "spare time" (haha) I have a very, very small cupcake business. I do cupcakes mainly for family & friends, or a few select jobs for friend-of-a-friend type relationships. I'm working on 500 cupcakes for a wedding tomorrow. This is my first large cupcake order since surgery. Realization #1: I don't use recipes. I use a standard base, and add things to it until it tastes right. Never realize how many tiny "tastes" I took until today. Getting these 5 cake flavors (and frostings) just right in about 1tbl worth of capacity - total - is going to be interesting.

Leftovers, anyone?

  • Oh yes. And one of the batches I have to do tonight will have Peanut Butter frosting *swoon*.

  • Okay, I was doing fine till you posted about peanut butter frosting! Now I want a cupcake! No fair!!!

  • Should I mention the double Ghirardelli chocolate cake (with chocolate ganache) it's going to be sitting atop? Where's my devil smiley? I actually don't like chocolate at all, unless it's paired

I am (was) a cupcake fiend!

who cares about the cake. I just wanted the frosting. pure sugary goodness. I am so glad I developed dumping syndrome after surgery. I wont touch any sugar now

I actually don't like to eat them but I love the creativity of inventing flavors, or finding a way to replicate a flavor. I've told DH he has to be my taste tester. I don't think he minds, but his waistband might!

I actually don't like chocolate at all, unless it's paired with PB. PB & chocolate (Reese's, in particular) is my absolute favorite.

Why oh why did I read this thread!!!!!!!!!! Cupcakes are the devil, cupcakes are the devil!!! Rushes out of thread before control slips........

I had a Delish cupcake today. But I'm on vacation and only ate half. It was yummy I have learned to listen To my sleeve and am able RO curb my cravings.

I am a professional baker. I'm gonna miss taste testing!!!

I have little girls that love to bake cupcakes. We baked today and I would normally have at least five with extra icing, but today I had none!!!!

The kids enjoyed them.

Oh... Now I going to have to put some PB2 I'm my shake tonight!

So wrong, yet so yummy. I actually am going to a wedding today and have to watch out for stuff like cupcakes!! One thing I have learned though. I still think I want my sweets, but after a bite or two, I feel sick and my son gets really lucky because I just can't eat it. I can't stand regular sugar anymore. Good whipped cream used to top my list too. I would have to try the PB stuff!
