Bust Open My Sleeve

Hi Everyone.

Hope all the gals enjoyed mother's day!

We had a little celebration and I did eat half a chicken schnitzel ( I know you read this Trisha!!LOL) and today I was feeling exceptionally hungry so I ate some broiled chicken breast. Too much of it. I found it hard to breathe afterward. It has settled down now, but it came up on me way too quickly. I'm six weeks post op and chewed really really well, but I'm wondering if I can bust open my staples doing this? Now I'm going to by lying awake all night wondering if I'm leaking all because I ate too quickly to notice the full signal! I'm really struggling getting used to the sleeve - something I thought would be so easy. Feeling so good now that I actually forget I have it and then BANG! YOU'RE FULL - WAY TOO FULL!

This has only happened twice, once with the schnitzel yesterday and again today with the chicken. I feel like a sabotaging fool, but it isn't deliberate. Thanks for your answers!

  • Don't be too hard on yourself! I'm 3.5 mos out & still eat too fast sometimes & make myself unbearably sick. I usually throw up if I do this, my body can't take the discomfort. Also, chicken i

  • Sounds like that works well for you, but I definitely don't want to get into the habit of eating and drinking together (among other things, I find that having to separate the two has reduced my grazin

Yogurt for me slides right through. What I am trying to say is that I have never been able to not drink all the time. I don't have set meal times per se and I don't wait :30 before and after food to drink.

Sometimes I cut back on the solids and have a Protein shake or now that summer is here, protein ice cream! I love my ice cream maker!

Yes yogurt would come under that 30 minute rule.

I'd never advise anyone to do what I do. My weight loss seems just peachy. I'm off a stall and back to about 1/2 pound a day weight loss.

Yes, very slow eating over the course of the day seems to work for me as I really hate that full feeling. I feel in control of my eating for the first time in my life and it is good!

Wow. Thanks everyone. I'm almost 6 weeks out. I've done well, I think. I have lost 18-20 lbs and about 3 inches almost everywhere. I seem to be In a holding spot teetering 177-179 for over a week now. I see

To be able to eat too much. Well it seems to much because I'm full and often am nervous about busting open my stomach/stitches. I eat too fast too though I have not gotten sick. Very uncomfortable. I think I'm eating slow. Well i am compared to what I used to. I have this other problem. If someone could help???? It's a bit embarrassing, but i am constipated really bad. I've been taking 2 dulcolax moved it to 3 tonight. And eating 2-3 prunes. I had veggies last night and today. And I ate some spinach instead of lettuce in my salad. Hmmmmm any ideas? I think I'm not getting enough water maybe 40 oz

The combination of surgery, protein and lack of adequate water is probably to blame. Miralax or Milk of Magnesia should help.

Thank you

I also had terrible constipation a few weeks out of surgery. In the end, the only thing that really helped was a laxative. After that, I found that regular exercise made a big difference.
