Post Op Diet Stage 2

Hello. Just has VSG in 3/30. I'm 9 days out & starving. Is that normal? Doc says can only have 3-4 protein shakes a day & SF jello. Everyone else I speak to comes home from hospital on pureeds. Is my doc a sadist??

I will be on a clear liquid diet for one week after surgery then full liquids. I think that is pretty normal.

purees are considered full liquids I believe. As long as it is the consistency of a protein shake.

I am on clear liquids for 2 weeks then 2 weeks full then pureed had surgery 4/4

I am 10 days post op. I am on full liquids which include broth, cream soups, crystal light, water, protein shakes, sf popsicles, sf fudgcicles, diluted tomato soup, meat soups,strained....I'm "dealing" it sucks but I am trying to focus on the prize !!!!

To the original poster....I have your same diet. Two weeks post op of clear liquids = protien shakes, water, broth, SF jello, SF popcicles. That's it.

But what is your docs idea of full liquids? Mine is Protein shakes only, no cal beverage, Water & broth. No soup, no liquid purees. Nothing.

This is my diet, too for 2 full weeks post surgery. I get to graduate to soft foods (I call it the gruel stage) on Wednesday of next week. And I will follow that stage for 6 weeks. It takes 4-6 weeks to change a behavior. I'm looking at this time as an opportunity to REALLY think about what is important to put in my mouth. If I get 50-60 grams of protein and 64 ounces of water in me per day, I very rarely feel hungry.

Good luck!
