Post-Op Painkillers

I'm one day home from the hospital and on liquid Lortab. I hate it ! It keeps me up at night, and Im used to a painkiller that can help me sleep. Anyone have any suggestions for what to ask for a prescription for? Lortab is great for during the day, but I need something that is going to put me OUT for nighttime or Im never gonna heal because I wont sleep. Suggestions?

Thanks,

Katie

Night time tylenol? I don't know about your doctor and don't want to tell you anything going against his/her advice, but my surgeon didn't have any quims about taking whole pills. . so I was allowed to swallow pills like tylenol, benedryl, etc from the first day of surgery. . . but ask your physician first, they are your best resource and everyone is different.

Thanks, Thinoneday. This is my second surgery. Im revised from a lapband. After my lapband surgery, they gave me something great (I thought it was liquid vicodin) and I was able to sleep well. This stuff is wimpy!

Percocet worked wonders for me and knocked me out for about 6 hours. I am allergic to lortab and morphine so they gave me toradol and percocet. Worked great, kept the pain away and helped me sleep (a lot!)

Thanks, Joiebean! Im have a call into my drs office. Im going to ask for Percocet. They gave me Dilauid in the hospital and I itched like crazy. I think percocet doesnt affect me that way. Thanks for the recommendations!

I did not do well with liquid loratab in the hospital so they gave me small pills of Oxycodone. It works great!!

toradol will knock you on your a$$. LOL you will get plenty of sleep. Its weird though cause the Liquid Loratab knocked me out, i loved the liquid cause you get all warm and i would fall right to sleep! I miss it on nights i cant sleep.

Honestly, i was kinda worried i was getting hooked, cause i was using it every day but after i ran out i didnt have any withdrawls so i mustve needed it i guess.

I have liquid Tylenol with codeine - it helps with the sleep. I'm not taking it around the clock. I'm only 3 days out.
