WOW!! You've gone into overdrive!! What does doc say about it? Is your metabolism messed up?

I bet you'd have never thought you'd be saying those words huh? ("i can't seem to gain weight") Maybe your body just hasn't stabilized yet. I've heard some people gain a few pounds back once they hit bottom. Definitely time to make an appt. to see the doc though. Praying for you.

What solid foods are you eating? While there are no real negative-calorie foods some foods have a track record of not being weight gain friendly. You also want to avoid the suplements - they are not good for weight gain and expensive. I did not say they wouldn't work! I said not good.

My sister and I had the same metabolic issues but different ends of the spectrum. I was overweight and starving at 1200 calories. she was underweight and starving at upwards of 3500 calories a day and for a few years a doctor supervised 4500 a day.

She ate alot of stuff and was ok'd for crap, empty calories too, but among the healthy choices were:

chicken, turkey, leaner red meats - buffalo is good. Chick peas, Edamame, heirloom Beans. starchy veggies. Potatoes are good. Oranges are good. Whole grain cereals. Berries, seeds, etc. Variety was a big deal for her too.

Good luck.

cheese, potatoes, starches, carbs...all the things you used to avoid. Drink your calories if needed. Go to a health food store and they can give you Protein to bulk up.

PLEASE, talk to your surgeon. You had VSG to get healthy, now stay healthy.

Carbs, carbs and more carbs. : P Also, I noticed where you are still very young. I know you want to stop the loss and gain weight immediately, but I'm guessing with age, like most of us, that metabolism will slow down and it will be easier to put on weight. Mine really started slowing down in my late 20s.

Never did i think i would say that I'm too skinny and struggling to gain weight, but i guess i just need to eat more often and more carbs than anything, it just sucks because im never really hungry

I wonder if your thyroid is messed up. I'd go to the doctor and get a metabolic workup.

If anything it would be HYPERthyroid- an overactive thyroid. Causes wt loss, palpitations, anxiety. I agree you should see your doc- this could be many things from not getting enough calories, your metabolism being great at early 20's (wish mine were there!), to being a thyroid or other medical concern. Hope it helps!

I don't believe anything is wrong with you, and I see myself there in a few more months. I have talked many times on this board about losing too much weight. I know my body very well. I am still in the losing phase and want to get ride of about 15 to 30 more pounds...Not sure where I want to stop, but I can see my patterns now, and I really think it has to do with eating more throughout the day. I can go hours and hours and hours without eating. I would take a week and eat more throughout the day. I don't even know how I would consume more, but i tried it yesterday as a dry run. I woke up eating, and I went to bed eating. I still didn't even get 1200 calories in, but a lot of what I ate was crap. I will be looking at avacados, potatoes and rice to build on. I already eat them now, but I will make sure I add them to all meals and Snacks. I do not diet at all right now, but I just can not consume enough calories in the day because I am not really trying. Yesterday I felt stuffed all day, but I figure in a few more moths maybe I will be able to eat a bit more. I want to try to stay away from bad fats and sugar as we can still be unhealthy. Let me know what works for you!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
