hey guys.. a lot of you have been following my story & know what has been going on. for those of you who havent, let me fill you in.

dec 20th i had my vsg surgery.

week 1 was ok.

week 2&3 were hard. i was so weak, barely ate or drank & i dont tolerate Protein shakes. i felt faint & would struggle to walk a short distance!

week 4&5 were great! i was eating & had energy & felt good! but threw up yellow bile 2x.

jan 20th i went in for a swallow test (leak test) & my sleeve showed a leak. i was hospitalized for over a week & had a stent placed in me on jan 23rd.

since having the stent placed, i was EXTREMELY sick. fought nausea 24/7 & no meds were helping. not reglan or zofran. i just couldnt stop throwing up. even would wake up in the middle of the night to throw up in my mouth and hands!

my stent ended up shifting after 2weeks & i had to undergo an emergency procedure to have it adjusted abd it eased the nausea. during this whole stent experience, i couldnt eat and barely drink! seriously... it was PURE HELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

feb 20th (today), i finally got my stent removed and i have no leak!!!!! HALLELUJAH!!!!

im relieved that i should be feeling better without my stent & i can go back to feeling great.

im down 55lbs. in no way was this experience worth losing 55lbs. i prefer to have put on 55! i regret surgery because of my complications but i cant undo it so im looking fwd & praying for a better future!

I was so relieved to read your post. As you can read, you had all of us very concerned for you. I hope this is a permenent turn around for you and it'll be smooth sailing from here on. Please keep posting so we can keep us w your journey.

You and I had the same issues with stents! They had to put mine in because my stomach end up twisting. After they put it in, I did nothing but throw up for two weeks, even waking up from a dead sleep to do so. Like you, I was also given reglan and zofran and neither had helped in the slightest. Only option I had was to take the superduper pain medicine they gave me and hope it knocked me out so I could get SOME form of sleep. When they finally took the stent out, it was a complete 180 turnaround. I had finally been able to eat something in two weeks!

I understand your regret. When I was admitted into the hospital to get my stent taken out, a nurse asked me if I regretted the surgery. I told her that at that moment I did. Now I can honestly say I don't.

I hope you feel better emotionally about this surgery. It might not seem like it's worth it, but when you get higher up on the weight loss, I'm sure it will! Heck, you were sleeved a month after me and you've lost a lot more than I have! 55 pounds is amazing, so keep up the good work!

the experience was hell. youre the second person i heard of saying that their stomach twisted. what is up with that? i never knew that was even possible! thats crazy! how far out were you? does that only happen in the begining or can it happen whenever? what causes it?

honestly, the 56 (lost another lb) wasnt worth all that i went thru. it was pure hell & i wouldve prefered to have gained it than lost it but its over now & im moving fwd!

It was pretty much right after surgery when it happened. I imagine because it's shaped like a banana that it's easier to twist? I dunno. They found out after I did nothing but throw up and couldn't even keep an ounce of Water down, so they did an endoscope and found the problem. If the stomach does twist, I think it can happen pretty much right after surgery. I'm not sure why, but it's probably because the stomach isn't healed enough to stay still? Not a medical professional, just my thoughts!

I'm sorry you still regret the surgery. Soon, the bad experience will just be a long forgotten memory and you can move on with your new life. It gets better, I promise! Just hang in there.

Oh I'm sorry you went through that. I had my sleeve surgery 2/15/12 and affraid of 2 things-leakage and hair loss. Do you know why you had a leak? Did they give you any info about that?

they dont know why i had a leak and said its impossible to tell. i mean, im sure they could come up with a billion and one reasons why but to pinpoint is impossible. :/
