Walmart Veggies-Grossest Thing/warning

So I know this is unrelated to VSG (well I guess sort of because I was buying veggies for my new eating plan) but I wanted to let you all know so this doesn't happen to you. I happened to be at Walmart last night which I never go to for various reasons, but was stuck because they were the last place to stop before my house. I needed a red bell pepper to cook vegetarian chili and when I got it home and started to cut it open, it was infested with black bugs!!! It was absolutely disgusting. I threw the rest of the produce I bought away. That has never happened to me from any other grocery store, farmers market, etc. so be careful with your future produce purchases from Walmart, if you do shop there. I don't know if the same crop goes to various Walmart stores. Yuck! Yuck! Yuck!!

OMG! I know! Walmart veggies are gross, at least any that I've had. Even the bagged salad is wilty and slimy. Gross!

I work for the produce industry and can tell you that each distribution center will get different crops of produce but the distribution center that delivers to all the walmarts in your region will get the same crop...so most likely the 50 other walmarts in your area got the same bug infested peppers. Because Wal-Mart is such a HUGE chain that is best known for their cheap prices they buy the cheap crappy produce that others won't touch. I shop at Kroger or HEB for my produce or go to a local Farmer's Market. FYI though, you can put all that produce into a bag and take it back to Wal-Mart. You will get your money back. If you were to ever have an issue with a product that my company makes, and yes we are sold in Wal-Mart stores, then not only does Wal-Mart give you the money back but they contact me and I issue a check for the amount of purchase as well. Not saying that will happen in this case because tryin to trace bulk produce back is tedious and sometimes to difficult...but our product has a special code date so I can look it up and see where it was made, when it was made and what shift it was made on.

Their meat is disgusting too. I have bought ground beef and carne asada steaks, and when I cook them, they smell and taste SOUR! I only shop there for frozen name brands and boxed goods. Stay away from anything "fresh" at WalMart.

The ONLY things I will buy at Wal-Mart are household items. All my grocery shopping is done elsewhere. I won't even buy my dog food at Wal-Mart. I have seen the inside of their Distribution Center in my area...DISGUSTING!

UGH!

The only thing I buy at Walmart are my Protein shakes and charcoal. My husband likes a particular brand of charcoal and in our area it's only sold at Walmart.

I did also buy my son's valentines day stuff there, but other purchases are few and far between.

Ohhhh....think I'm gonna yarg.....shouldn't a' read that... :o

Walmart produce has gone down hill big time. . . I don't ever buy anything from them anymore. Nothing that gross has happened to me before, but I just don't like walmart for a variety of reasons. . . even moved my prescriptions to another place

Ewwwl /: I hope that never happens to me ..

EWWWW thanks for posting
