For the 1 year plus veterans, does the weight loss continue past the 1 year anniversary if you are not at goal? I am within 10 pounds to goal, but losing at 1 - 2 pounds a month will put me past my 1 year surgiversary.

My surgeon said the first two years are the most important... but I honestly can't see why we shouldn't lose after that time frame. Ok, so the first 6mths are the most noticable and the fastest (for most) and, yes, many reach goal in a year or so. For me though, that didn't happen and I am14mths out and 14lb shy of my surgeons goal and about 30lbs shy of my ultimate OMG goal! For the past 6mths or so I have been losing around 2-4lb a month and that is fine. As long as the scale is going down I really don't care how long it takes me now. I have stopped beating myself up about it and started to enjoy my new 'self'.

Not sure it that helps...lol... but I do know, that as long as you use your sleeve to its full advantage you will get to goal.. good luck and let me know how you get on =]

I'm one year 8 months out and stop losing weight for a year and now I'm gaining back. I am sick about it. Has this happened to anyone else? Any suggestions. I can eat anything and have cravings for sweets which I thought when they removed part of the stomach would subside?

I'm so sorry you're gaining back! Unfortunately, the sleeve doesn't fix our heads. We have to use the tool in an appropriate way. For me, this means limiting sweets (I still have to battle that myself--in the beginning, my sleeve didn't like sweet things, but now it's pretty tolerant--uh-oh!), focusing on the "Protein first, then vegetables" rule, staying away from anything I know flat out isn't good for me (pastries, fried foods, etc.), and staying hydrated.

I guess it's the whole KISS rule--right? Keeping it simple, skinny? LOL Protein first (lean protein, like chicken, fish, vegetable sources), water-based vegetables (almost all of them except potatoes, NOT FRIED!), and fresh fruit--Water, Vitamins, some exercise.

I think the whole sweets craving is easier to avoid if you just don't allow any at all, or if you do allow them, get a single serving outside the house and don't keep anything in the house. I have to make a special trip to get a frozen yogurt, for instance--I certainly don't keep it in the house!! It might be time to reevaluate what's on your shelves, in the car, in your desk drawer, etc. to be sure you're not tempting yourself with goodies.

Don't panic. You still have the tool in place to keep you from volume overeating. You can definitely conquer the sugar monster! There are other threads on this forum that discuss avoiding sugar and ways to beat that craving. I know you can do it!! HUGS!!!!

Mine was for 1 year and a couple of months. . . after that it stayed at the same weight, give or take a couple of pounds here and there. . . but now that i'm into year 3, i can honestly say i'm happy where i am. . . i feel and look healthy. . even people who know i've the surgery, tell me how healthy i look, that i don't look anorexic or sickly like some people do. . . this makes me very happy. . . my hubbie even loves how i look now. . . he always says "don't loose anymore" he likes the idea of being able to grab and hold onto stuff hahahaha silly man. . . so i surpassed the 212 lbs the surgeon wanted me to be by 12 pounds and now waver at 200 - 215 lbs . . . love it and for the first time in my life i am at peace with myself and if feels great! good luck!

Reading one of the posts saying "I am losing 2-4 lb.'s a month". If we had never done the sleeve and were eating the portions you r probably eating, WE WOULD HAVE LOST MORE than 2-4 pounds in a month (probably). I think this is cause we reduced our calories to 500-800 while we were loosing a lot and now we don't burn calories like a body should. Does anyone want to put their 2cents in? Agreeing or not, I want to learn. I am only at 7 weeks so everything is still going great for me. I will believe it will always be great but I do like to educate myself.

Sure, before I was sleeved, I could lose 10 pounds a month, but only if I wanted to walk around starving and exercising like a demon. I would immediately start to gain back the weight whenever I reached my goal, because I was always starving. I'm banking on losing the weight, and keeping it off without feeling miserable.

I'm 15 months post, a few pounds from goal and still losing, although it's very slowly. The slow weight loss has been for months.

NUT told me that many people stop losing after "about" a year BUT if you keep working the sleeve, following the rules there is no reason you can't continue losing. I plan to!

Yep, I'm still losing, probably 2 pounds a month at this point. Not actively trying to drop any more, just living and doing my usual daily stuff. I eat what I want, trying to keep the focus on healthful foods, although I do drink wine occasionally and enjoy my sugar-free low-fat ice cream. We don't eat a lot of "junk" around here (my husband is also a sleever). Neither of us really likes sweet/fatty food, so we don't keep it here. I eat corn chips almost daily, but it's as a mini-meal with some cheese or hummus, and it's a small serving, since my sleeve still very much keeps me from overeating.

I'm over 18 months out now and figure I'll stop losing when my body hits ideal equilibrium--no idea, but as I say, I'm not actively trying--just living and eating and enjoying things. :-)
