December Sleevers

What with the kids in school and being a single Mom, I have to wait to be sleeved. Oh, well, gives me time to build up my leave days!

I am scheduled for 28 December with Dr. Aceves. So far (as of this writing) I'm told there is only one other person scheduled that day. I'm hoping a gang of us will be down there, tho!! If there are no complications, we'll be released a day early, so as not to have to attempt the border crossing and travel on New Year's Eve.

Looking forward to making some new friends - anyone wanna join me??

Sheri

My surgery is Dec 4 at Dr. Aceves and am not on a pre op yet..one week bf surg but I too am eating a little more than usual and most unusual want cokes, pop etc which I never hardly care about. I am going to get my protein shakes, unjury lined up, lots of good advice on what might work taste wise for me. I don't want to worry about chasing around after that post op. I have a great treadmill in the garage that is staring at me also, gathering dust. I put a pic of me taken 17 years ago that was my best weight on the refrig, there for any dithering I might have. Wish someone from here was going same time. I am getting excited!! Good luck to you!

Hi everyone,

I am getting "sleeved" on 12/18/09 (same day as 3636millie) in Dominican Republic. I needed to do a offshore surgery for the cost, but selected DR because I have lots of family there and could be looked after by/visit with family while I am recouping.

As for eating more... yeah... i'm there, too. My plan is to try to not over do it the next few weeks and start researching Protein drinks, ordering samples and plan for the pre- and post-op diet, enjoy Thanksgiving and right after Thanksgiving, start focusing on lessening the impact of the pre-op diet. I may even make it a 3-wk instead of 2-wk...

My goal is not to gain any weight now through Turkey Day!

A soon-to-be Fellow Sleever,

Aimee

Tracey, welcome to the group. We are all food addicts. Unfortunately, we will always be food addicts.

I have learned that WLS doesn't change anything..you will still crave and desire food after you recover from the surgery

Nothing changes, except the size of your stomach. And, that will elminate that "OMG, I am starving" feeling. That did go away, thank God.

But, in 12 weeks, your stomach should be completely healed, and it will be possible to chose to eat chips/dips, to eat anything you want. It may take all day, but it is possible, so, don't think that your addiction will magically disappear, it won't. I don't want to burst your bubble, but to give you a realistic view of the sleeve. Many things will improve, and I would do it again in a heart beat, but it isn't a magic pill. If you eat too fast, the wrong foods too quickly, it will cause intense pain and probably vomiting. But, we have all been through that, and lived to tell, so it will be fine.

God bless and the best of luck to you!

You guys are too funny!:lol0: Careful though! Damn monkeys might have rabies!:huh0: Then you'd be getting shots too! :svengo:

I might be sleeved on Dec 29th! Went for my inital Doc visit on Friday (20th) along with psych, and nutritionist. . . he says I'm an ideal candidate and if the clearances come back he'll do it. . . I was so happy. . . he even told me that I did not need to do a pre-op diet, but I told I would like too. . . he looked at me as if i was weird. . when he asked me why, I thought about ya'll and some who had the problems and told him that it would be for the best, easier for him and better for me. . . he grinned a big grin (very cute smile!) and told me ok and that I would be successful! Wow, guys he made my day. . . now lets see if the psych thinks the same way?????

I am getting mine done ont that day. I can't believe it is only 35 days away. I am not even thinking about Thanksgiving or Christmas, just counting the days until my surgery is here.

Good luck with everything, I am just up the road from you in Austin.

Wow, didn't realize that it was ONLY 35 days away.. . got instant butterflies! Good luck with everything for you as well. . . who knows maybe our paths will cross one day! Take it easy and we'll count down together!

Rosebud2 - Drs. Aceves & Campos are going to be blown away when they see you!! Be sure to take pic okay????

And tell them both I say "HI"!

Do you think they actually remember all of their patients? It will be six months when I see them. Maybe I'll bring my goal photos. The ones I showing where I want to get to. Dr. Aceves loved them and loved the fact that I planned on getting there again. (I was 22 in them - lol )
