5 days post op.....still not feeling great

Recommended Posts

Today is day 5 and I'm still in some pain and have occasional nausea. The gas pain in my left shoulder is better, but my stomach is tight and my breathing is painful. How long before I will be pain free?

Hi Lash, I am pre-band but do know that healing from any surgery takes the time it takes -- our bodies are all different. You posted early this morning and I'm hoping that day five is your big turnaround day. Take good care of yourself and be sure to work on your breathing, the walks around and sips of Water. That's the recipe I keep seeing here in posts from others. You are on your way! Thinking of you....

Hi there! I had surgery on 9/12. It took about 10 days for me to really feel normal. It is different for everyone and some go back to work a few days later but I had a lot of shoulder pain and thought I was going to pass out when I took a deep breath.

Today is day 15 after surgery and I feel FANTASTIC! Hang in there, it will get better!

Thanks for the feedback ladies. Day 7 and MUCH better! Shoulder pain gone, after releasing all the gas in my chest. I've been moving around a lot better and going back to work Tuesday. I look forward to my new life. Have a great day.

Went back to work Tuesday and had a good day. Minor pain around port incision, but other than that I feel good. Thinking about doing some gardening today, if it doesn't hurt to bend. Trying to drink more Water, feeling a little dehydrated. Hope you ladies are well and thanks again for the feedback.

Hi! Im so glad you are feeling good! Others have already said the things I would have said about not feeling well earlier, but I'd like to add that you might hold off on the gardening for a bit -- just to not push things too quickly. Im glad you feel so good that you want to garden, though!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
