I had gas pains for almost a month after surgery. It will come and go and you can have stretches without it being a problem. Three months after surgery I still have some gas first thing in the morning

I was banded 8 days ago. I had the initial gas pains right out of surgery, walked around a ton, and they went away after a few days. I haven't had gas pains for about 5 days. Then, today, BAM! I have had the pain in my left shoulder ALL DAY!! Walking doesn't help, and neither does burping (aren't I sexy?). I thought once the gas went away right after the surgery I was in the clear....is it normal to have it go away and then come back?? And how long do I have to look forward to this? Thanks in advance!
