  • The high protein diet can stop you up. Add a stool softener and take Miralax until you get relief. You don't want to end up in the ER. Make sure you getting all your non protein fluids in too!

  • Miralax is not a cramping laxative. My doctor has me on it half dose daily, and no cramping.

(TMI coming in 3... 2...1...) If you can feel the feces near the exit but just can't go because you're too constipated, you may want to try a suppository or enema. Neither are pleasant options but they're not painful either. They both work pretty quickly, too.

Hang in there.

Not all laxatives are created equal. CHeck with your doctor for recommendations.

Chez is right, you don't want to end up in the ER. I went 7 days and finally called my surgeon I was so miserable, he told me to drink a tiny bit of Magnesium Citrate and boy did that ever get me moving, its nasty but it cleaned me out. Didn't cramp with it, guess I was just impacted.

Unflavored fiber powder helps me stay regular. Works really well no taste or clumping. Add it to my yogurt daily.

Where can I get the Magnesium Citrate from?

You can Mag Citrate from any drug store like Walgreens etc.

CVS, Rite Aid, I'm sure even Walmart Pharm might even direct you if they have it.

I am 10 days out and was fine about a day after...The key is LOTS of water. My diet has been 2-3 protien shakes a day with a lot of cal free beverages in between and I can tell right away if I haven't been drinking my water. Otherwise I agree with the rest that a week seems way too long and I would call just to check. Good luck!!

I admit...water has always been my downfall. I'm sure if I upped my water intake, I swill see some quick "relief"!!!!

That's a good question. I was banded 3/12 and I just started passing gas yesterday. I'm wondering if I should get some stool softners just to get it going or let the process work itself since I just started passing gas.

I still feel so much better when I'm even able to burp a little!!! Anyway to let this gas escape is fine by me!
