Newly Post Op!

  • Popular Post

Well, I was banded yesterday! It's crazy to think that after all of that prep and research I am now part of the banded community!! So far not too too bad. I'm in some pain and discomfort. The gas pains are terrible- it brings me to tears because its difficult to breathe, but when I move around it helps!

What a surreal feeling... My new life has already begun!!! :)

  • Congratulations fellow bandster! The discomfort only last a short time, but the joy can last for the rest of your life. You're on your way, woohoo

  • Congrats bandsters. Work thru the pain, keep the big picture in mind.

  • I've been sleeping in my bed, I have a tempurpedic bed, and I sleep with a lot of pillows. I want to sleep on my belly so bad or my side but obviously can't. I'm so glad I have this bed, don't think

Congrats! Stay hydrated = most important right now. One day at a time and you'll do great!

Thanks! I'm hoping things will all start coming together. Taking medications I'm finding is a chore and very time consuming.

My incisions aren't even covered and they used "glue" so they are freaking me out a little. They are a little sore but not too bad.

I had my surgery on Tuesday , they repaired a hiatal hernia also ....that I didn't know I had. I stayed over 1 night in the hospital due to the severe chest pains I had, which was normal because of the hernia.....now I just have gas pains and my shoulder pain is unbearable! One would think I had surgery on my shoulder.Does anyone know how long that gas pain last in the shoulder?????? I have been using a heating pad but it is still killing me. I have only had Clear liquids so far..today I can add my Protein shakes but I am not hungry at all.....

I was banded on Wednesday as well. Chest pain is the worst. When I woke up from the surgery I thought I was being suffocated.

It all depends on the person. Try taking gas x and walking in addition to your heating pad.

I was also banded on the 6th and this gas pain sucks!!!! It feels a little better today but, now my port site is super sore.

I cant wait to be feeling better and get over this hurdle.

Can't stress the importance of walking. Use a pillow to support your belly. I'm day 5 postoperative, wasn't til lat night that I felt drastically better. Drink slow, hang in there.

I was just banded yesterday @ 8 and back home by noon. I slept for a few hours but woke up with gas pains. I use Gas-X strips that dissolve on the tongue, they really help! And I've found that when I get nauseous it's because I need to burp, so I walk around the backyard till I burp a few times and it makes me feel much better!!!

I have a question: How have you guys been sleeping? I tried laying in bed last night but couldn't get comfortable so I laid on the couch but that made my back hurt...and I don't have a recliner. Any advise?

I'm just ready to get past the gas pains and being nauseous.
