Where did my fill go??

I'm really struggling and I've gained back some weight. The past two weeks its like my fill has just disappeared. I'm starving all the time and I can eat anything I want, even foods I couldn't handle before like bread and pickles.

I see my surgeon tomorrow.

Could it be possible that I have a leak or what??

  • The doc visit will tell all. Make sure they take it all out to measure what's there and then refill. That way you will know for sure what is there.

Yes, in fact I'm pretty sure that's why I need a fill tomorrow. I've lost 41 pounds since my last fill in September so I'm guessing that's why I'm all the sudden hungry all the time.

  • My dr told me that as you lose the fat around the stomach decreases and loosens the band... So while you may have the same amount of fluid it's not enough the more you lose.

It's possible you have a leak but it's also possible you stretched your pouch. Or, if your last fill was long ago, some does evaporate over time.

I'm sure your surgeon will be able to help. Best wishes.

I think it's possible that I've stretched my pouch but I'm not sure how I would know that for sure. My surgeon does not do fills under flouro and he really doesn't do any testing to make sure your band is where it should be.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but as you lose weight, don't you lose some of the fat that the band is wrapped around and this can also decrease restriction? Especially since you have not had a fill since September, I would think this could be a possibility, I thought I read or saw this somewhere.

You need to see a doctor. If you don't like the original one... find a substitute.
