Lapband Pregnancy

Ok. I'm in a Rock and a hard place. I have the chance to get banded and try for a baby. Has anyone went ahead and got the lapband and then got pregnant right away? How did that work out?

I have no first hand knowledge....I am past that time of my life... However i would discuss it with your dr because losing weight pre baby would be a good thing but on the other hand how would the band complicate the pregnancy ? I am sure you will hear from bandsters with this experience but I would discuss it with your obgyn as well as you bariatric surgeon so you can make an educated choice. Congrats for looking for answers.

Good luck

Thank u! :-). I think it is the best thing to do. I don't want to get myself into something I can't get out of

I am still researching getting the band. And getting pregnant is one of the reasons that i am on this weight loss journey. Please let me know how it goes with ur dr advice.

I'm not sure how pregnancy is affected by the band but my surgeon made me sign a waiver saying I was not going to be trying to get pregnant for two years (I think it was 2 yrs). Luckily I am already done having kiddos. Good luck. I definitely suggest discussing it with your doctor. There is a pregnancy thread to look into as well on here.

My surgeon said to go ahead and get the band and that I could just keep losing during pregnancy.

Wow your docs supportive. Going to try and hint to my doc and see what he says ;-) thanks

Mine said it didn't matter when I got pregnant, but tell them and they will remove the fluid when needed. I'm only 2 months out but we are hoping to start trying in May so I will be 8 months out.

My doctor said not to try to get pregnant for at least a year after surgery
