Are you on all liquids? I got 4 oz Protein, veggie and fruit a day to space out too. First few days are horrible but it gets better after about day 4. A few crackers is better than cheating altogether because you can't handle the diet.

well, my doctor has me on optifast 800 shakes 4 times a day, optifast soup once a day, and an optifast bar twice a day....but i havent been doing the soup, cant stand the taste and the bars taste like they're filled with chalky medication...so i've just been doing the shakes and a chocolate bar here and there....but, if my doctor allowed me the protein and veggies like your doctor...im sure id be ok right about now lol.... (im on day 6 surgery date is nov 19th)

i made some sugar free strawberry jello w/chopped up strawberries with splenda (saw someone post that their doctor told them a few berries when it gets rough was ok)...havent eaten it yet going 2 save it for a late night snack being as though thats the roughest time for me...

Your doctor is having you eat mostly protein in order to force your body to burn only protein and fat. In general your body prefers to burn carbs and sugar so adding crackers would be giving your body carbs to burn instead of again forcing it to burn fat. Yes the pre op diet sucks but its only for a couple weeks.

Wow you get bars? Man what I wouldnt have given for something I could have actually chewed. Lucky you. I was on 5 Optifast shakes a day, Water, caffeine free tea or coffee, 2 sugar free popsicles a day and if I REALLY needed it sodium free broth...

It is the hardest thing you will do..... But when it's over you will have a healthy liver for a successful surgery , learn you can live without food just not nutrition And even get a nice weight loss in to jump start your deam.

Congrats!!! You can do this.

Miss PYT - I am struggling with you! My surgery date is also the 19th. My biggest problem is there is only one flavor/brand of Protein shake I really like. I found another that I could tolerate ok but I absolutely hate all the rest. The same thing gets very old, very quick. I've ordered some powders online that others have recommended but they won't be here until next week.

I so am envious of those with surgeons who allow them to have a Lean Cuisine!

Several people have said it gets better after the first three days. I certainly hope so!

Keep with the doctor's orders! It will be worth it in the end.
