  • Hi Everyone... went back to work yesterday (desk job) after being banded on Friday 10/12. Surgical sites didn't bother me much the first few days but by Monday, the gas began to give me some shoulder

Day 4 of the Optifast, 10 days until surgery... YEA!!! Today is the first day I didn't feel hungry on the Optifast, I guess my body knows to suck it up and get over it!!!

Yeah funny when you figure out that you CAN survive on a little bit of food! Keep rockin it girl!

so I'm still in the hospital 24 hours later as expected still nothing to eat but I'm not hungry ...pain is pretty good except gas pain starting to be stronger in my left shoulder... walking a bit to leave that... need to go down for the xray to make sure the band is in place and then I can go home if all is well..

That left shoulder thing is crazy. Mine still hurts, 8 day out! Congrats btw!

I'm in pain also! Not really had pains but it hurts when I drink. I want to roll over and go to sleep but scared to move

How are you feeling Fallon? I feel like I've been on the wrong side of a bar fight lol.are you on Facebook?

Wow, that really sucks. Is it at all possible to reschedule the work time off? Good luck to you.

Hopefully you'll make it home today.

Is anyone taking anything for fiber? I feel like I'm constantly sipping on something trying to get all of the protein in. I also feel like I constantly have to burp but can't get it to come out. And I know this is TMI, but I would be so happy if I could poop....

I just had my surgery on October 10th! I'm so looking forward to a healthy future! I'm still pretty sore but I can't wait until I am released to work out again! Good luck to everyone!

Hey there! Congrats! I was banded 10/5 so I'm just a few days ahead of you. Concentrate on the healing process and making friends with your band. The rest will come! ;)

The burp ah the burp...that would never come. Someone posted to bend in half and at times this really works wonders...like a limp doll trying to touch your feet ( without forcing of course) it just comes on up.

As for fiber. I'm afraid it will make things worse so I haven't taken anything. As for the BM I had no shame in going and buying glycerin suppositories after the third day. Beats having a blockage for sure. Anyway, that whole department has changed for good I fear.

Good luck to you and I hope it all works out in the end ( pun intended)

Hello Folks,

I'm wondering if this is normal or not...please let me know what you all think. I'm not really feeling the gas any more and that's good. Had the surgery on the 9th. However, it's a lot easier to swallow liquids than I thought. I'm not trying to over do it by any means, but it's just so much easier than I thought. There have been a couple of times that I have felt a little pressure and it was not comfortable, but nothing really terrible like I was told I may experience if I over did it. Now I'm not sure what over doing it is! I'm on all liquids. I'm trying to be obedient on everything, but I'm not sure how much is too much. Especially considering they want me to try and get in at least 64 ounces of liquids a day.

I have lost 22 pounds since I started this whole process and I just don't want to go backwards.

I go on Mushys next Friday.

Suggestions? Thoughts? Anything?

Thanks!

Linda, keep drinking! Just make sure u drink what your doc is telling u to drink. It will keep you hydrated and help to make u feel full. Keep up the great work!

Journey girl, yes, u need to add fiber to your diet now. U do not ever want to go thru the whole constipated thing. I take 2 stool softeners a day and add unflavored fiber to my water (Walmart brand works fine).
