Day 6 Post-Op, Am I Normal?

I am 6 days post op and still in a lot of pain around my port. It hurts for me to stand or sit down. I've read so many post where people were feeling much better by now and heading back to work. I can't imagine going to work tomorrow. Why is it taking me so long to heal? Is there any secret remedy to get better quicker? I'm ready to get out the house and back to my normal life!!

I think you are perfectly normal....all of us heal at different rates and have had varying experiences with the band. Continue to drink your fluids and move around...it will get better!

I still had pain at day 6. It wasn't until about day 10 that I was feeling pain free. I still had some discomfort, but not pain. Each person is different, so don't try to compare yourself to others. If you are woorried about the pain talk to your doctor. Hope you feel better soon.

I am also 6 days post-op and feeling the same as you. I am still sore and stiff. My port site is still sore. I am just trying to take things easy and everyday gets better. I am not going back yo work for another week and a half so i feel like i have time to heal. Good luck yo you.

I went back to work after two days but not cause I was pain free but financially I couldn't miss work it took about two weeks to be pain free you'll be fine

It's so nice to know I'm not alone in my journey. I will take off another week from work and focus on getting better. Thanks everyone for your much needed advice. :-)

hey trina

i had surgery on the 6th and wanted to go back to work on the 12th but ended up

taking the entire next week off. i rested, got myself together and will go back to work tomorrow.

i didnt go back because my shoulders hurt so bad and because my tummy emptied itself whenever..........and the bathroom is 74 steps one way from my desk at work

LOL

hang in there :)

I am day 6 as well. Some people actually feel pain differently than others. You are doing fine. I am one of the people that have said how great I feel. However, I still have port incision pain and getting up is awkward. I could have probably gone back to work yesterday but i do not have a physically demanding job. I know people that needed 2 full weeks. I think everyone just heals at their own pace. Take it easy!
