I have not thrown up yet but I have been so worried about it. I'm sure it is bound to happen at some point and I don't want to freak out when it does.

Does it hurt or feel different after the band?

What are the chances of it making the band slip or the port flip?

Do you need to call your surgeon immediately or is it ok to throw up once or twice?

Is there anything else you can tell me about the throwing up "experience"?

I live 2 hours away from my surgeon so I hope I never get sick because a two hour car ride while throwing up sounds terrifying.

I have thrown up lots of times and its okay. It hurts me more not to throw up than to just get it over with. I think if you get sick alot is what might cause your port to flip but not if its just every once in a while. It dose feel a little diffrent than before almost like you cant gag or force it up as hard. The time I end up getting sick is always when I am in a hurry eating or not paying attention. When I get stuck I lightly throw up. Not like a virus throw up. Lol

Almost two years out and know on wood no vomiting or PB's.

I did throw up the day after I was banded because I was so nauseous. It did hurt me but I was also fresh out of surgery. It was harder to throw up.

i live two hours away as well.. on a bad road. ive been banded now nearly 3 months and ive been sick twice. its no big deal really... certainly nothing to get so worried over.It was entirely my fault and i learned from it. Actually i knew beforehand and wasnt obedient.

If you do what you know to do... very small bites, chew, chew, chew, then you shouldnt have any problems with vomiting at all.. I certainly never had any issues with my band.... its still in place and working really well. dont worry about it... just know that you are in control of all this. You can prevent it from happening if you do the right things. Vomiting wont happen unless you do the wrong thing.
