  1. Okay after I exercise my band is a little tighter. I seem to have problems if I eat to soon after. Also left over meat is harder for me to. However some days things go down better than others. I know none of us like getting sick but I would much rather get it over with than be in pain for 5 minutes.
  2. I went back on the 10 day liquid diet the doctor had me on before surgery and it helped for me. I don't want to go on it again but I am sure that will change if I plateau again!
  3. I had lap band because if for any reason it can be reversed. I know you don't lose as fast and that does get frustrating but I just worried about the long term more than the short term. I think either are great and I know people have gotten pregnant after both. I looked and this looked like the healthiest way and my doctor agreed for me it was the best. Still not at goal but getting there.
  4. I'm 8 months out and still cant do crunches but I do planks and other core exercises. It took me several months before I felt ok to do it.
  5. I have thrown up lots of times and its okay. It hurts me more not to throw up than to just get it over with. I think if you get sick alot is what might cause your port to flip but not if its just every once in a while. It dose feel a little diffrent than before almost like you cant gag or force it up as hard. The time I end up getting sick is always when I am in a hurry eating or not paying attention. Hope this helped.
  6. My boss just had it done and I also looked into it. They said for me it would not help much on my belly because what bothers me the most is hanging skin. From the results I have seen it does work pretty good if its fat you are wanting to get rid of but if its skin like alot of us have after weight loss it wont help.
  7. Just remember beer has calories. I try to only have them when they are planned because they can add up. This weekend we are going to be at the lake camping and it is Mothers day so I am sure I will have a few but I will try not to have any for a couple of weeks after.
  8. I was told and have experienced that you can get air (burp) traped in the bottom part of your bigger stomach and it can be hard to get it out. I have drank sips of a soda and found this to be true. It was pretty uncomfortable. I have also tried to drink beer and its not as bad but I do burp a lot. That is the only reason my dr. told me and I have found that the sodas are just not worth it. A beer somtimes is worth pretty much anything lol.
  9. There are some things I never think about until I read someones post. Now I will know what to expect and not to freak if I feel my band get tighter. Thanks.
  10. I have tried them twice and got sick both times. I would say try them at home first and see how it goes. There is nothing worse than getting sick in s public bathroom! But I agree eat what you like just less of it.
  11. Okay so I feel that I am almost in the green zone with my band maybe one more small fill. My problem is that when I sit down to eat and my band tells me stop your full my brain seems to think I have not eaten enough and I need to try a couple more bites. I can usually eat a more and not get sick but I do get pretty uncomfortable like the food is setting in my throat. Then of course I get mad at myself. Its like I feel a need to pick after I am done eating. I don't know if I am trying to feel the same kind of full I felt before the band or what. Any one else go through this?
  12. So glad to have read your post! It is easy to get discouraged and reading others success stories realy help. I can and will get to my goal! I do wish my doctor was not so conservative but I guess that is due to the fact that I had so much trouble in the first three days and had to get a bigger band. Oh well I know from reading stories like yours I will get there it just might take a while. However I am learning a lot in the process. Thanks!
  13. I have only felt truly full once sense being banded. I still don't think I am in the green zone but getting closer. I do eat less than before and I think the mental hunger is the hardest part to deal with. I do think once in the green zone it will let you know when you are full. I did not do this to be on another diet so it better work lol.
  14. The one i am using is by active.com i think and its just called couch to 5k. I almost look foward to running now. It only takes about 30 minutes start to finish so its easy to make myself find time for it. They also have a couch to 10k that I plan on doing after i finish.
  15. I have been doing the couch to 5k for about 3 1/2 weeks. I can't say I love it because that would be saying I love exericise and I don't think that will ever happen. However I do thik it is a great program. What I like is you can stay on the "week" until you are ready to move on. I had to repeat one and I am repeating week 2. However there is a 5k in my town in september and I WILL be running in that! Good luck to you!
  16. On that topic I think I will go today for the firt time in a few years! I will cover my belly and my face.
  17. I had trouble drinking anything after and eventually could not keep even water down. I ended up having to have another surgery because my original was to tight and had to get a bigger one. So if you get where you can hold water down call doctor. However I think the other pain and stuff is pretty normal. Good luck!
  18. I had one yesterday with chicken and pasta and could only eat half. I am learning that pasta and rice are a no no for me along with bread so it might be hard to find one that will work. Some people do fine with those things so either way good luck to you!
  19. Store your food in small plastic bags like ziplock. Then bring a glass bowl like a pyrex dish and transfer from bag to dish. If you sit the food out in the morning after a couple of hours it will be easy enough to get out of the bag.
  20. Sounds normal to me! People just kept telling me to allow myself to heal before my fist fill and practice taking small bites and eating slow. It is hard until you get restriction (just started feeling it this weekend) but its worth it. I know I kept feeling like if I could do by myself I wouldn't have got the band. Good Luck!!
  21. Soup like tomato soup does nothing for me as far as feeling full. I try to eat less but it is just me doing it not the band. I also eat cream of chicken soup for the first couple of days because it has protein. I have had three fills and was worried that even this last one did not do much good but once I tried to eat more solid food I realized that I had restriction. I was getting very discouraged but feeling a lot better now. I bet you will be able to tell a diffrence once you are eating solid food. Just be careful and eat very very slow. Good Luck!
  22. Good News I am feeling some restriction! It seems like in the morning I can pretty much just handle liquids or a protine shake, soup or somthing very thin for lunch and dinner I can handel food that is a little more solid. I will have to work even harder on eating slower and taking smaller bits but I am pretty happy right now. Pretty exicted! Cazzy- My doctor did write off his amount of the bill but the hopsital and others did not. I have great health insurance but it does not cover WLS or complications due to WLS. The collections lady at the hopsital said that if I did not have health insurance I could apply for a grant from the hospital to help with the bill but because I do have insurance even though it doent cover this I am not eligible to apply. Makes no sense to me. I guess they will get what I can afford and I am just not going to worry about it!
  23. I did drink tea and ate soup for lunch today. And all went down fine. Did not feel like I had any restriction but maybe because there was no solid food in the soup. Last night I didn't have chicken noodle soup or anything with veggies but did have crackers so maybe that was it? I hope I start feeling some restriction soon.
