Bowel Movements

Sry that I have to ask this but I want to know if black bowel movements are normal 4 days post op.... I'm not really going and when I try to go it hurts :angry: thank god for Mira Lax though. Just want to know if when I go and they are black is it normal or should I tell my surgeon about this on my post op appt on the 4/23...

Sry about this everyone but I am unsure if this is normal or not.

I had a couple like that but then that was all. I'm sure with the trauma surgery does to our body it's normal, I would think. Mention it to your doctor or his nurse and they'll put you at ease for sure. :)

Black BM's are supposed to be really bad (blood in the stool). I would call your doctor asap! (Sorry I hope I don't scare you, could just be a byproduct of the liquid diet, etc)

U should call ur surgeon. Don't panic, sometimes they look dark but aren't actually black. Def check with ur surgeon tho. If u were bleeding because of straining etc. it wouldn't be black there would be actual blood u could see

if the stools were black and 'tarry'' then definately talk to your dr.

Thank you all I have talked to my surgeon and he has said this is normal because of the liquid pain meds that I am on so I am now stoping them.

Also I had to go out today and get some milk of magnesia to help with my issue yuck :angry: I just want to feel normal and not have this problem and be able to drink Water normal again. :D
