Flipped Port

I was banded on Jan.12 2012 . I went for my first fill 0n Feb. 22. After being stuck a total of 9 times, bleeding and pain I found out that my port is flipped over. My doctor said she may have to do surgery again to fix my port. Have this happened to anyone else?

I've seen it on here a couple of times. Did your doctor stitch it down?

My sister has the lapband and she had to get hers fixed. The port and a leak had to be repaired. It was the same for her as the original surgery. Came home same day and was off work a few days to heal.

I had a flipped port. For me, the port surgery was rough. I think this is because every body told me that it was no big deal so I wasn't prepared for all of the soreness and bloating. My port had moved quite a bit so the surgeon had to dig. I had my revision surgery in August and since then it's been smooth sailing! I'm glad it's over and I had the second surgery! Good luck- as far as complications go, this one is an easy one to fix!

@ starrbrite, bleeding? you mean from throwing up or what?.

I think she means from being stuck with the needle. Good luck!

I was banded in Dec. '11 and I have a flipped port. My doctor stated that they found a higher percentage of people having flipped ports with the particular type port used in my surgery..so they stopped using it...of course, a month after I had my surgery :( I should have my surgery to fix the port within a month or so.

I was banded Jan.13.2012 I also believe my port has flipped or should I say it feels like it will. I can feel it at an angle and I can move it back and forth (I know I shouldn't). Before this, i could feel my port nice, flat and secure. it all started when a few weeks ago after I did exercise. I had a really bad burning/puncturing feeling around my port. The PA said I put a strain on the muscle (she said this over the phone) and well told me to put ice. Now a few weeks later, I have no pain but I can now feel my port a bit sunked in and sideways. Will I need my port re-stitched? I'm scared that when I get my 1st fill (thursday) it will not be done correctly.
