October Bandsters!!!

Hello October Bandsters. I thought I would start us a post-op group now that we are getting ready to start out second week of banders. I know we are all going to do GREAT. We will all be loosers this month!!!! If you are having a bad day dont hold it in. This is where we can let it out. If we stick together we will go far. We can do this ladys and gents. I know we can. Set a goal for yourself and let everyone know what it is so we can help each other meet that goal.

My goal is to walk/run a 5k by one year post op. I hope to meet that before then but I am not going to pressure myself to meet a goal that is not realistic. I know myself and if I set goals I cant meet I will give up.

Good luck to all of you.

  • I finally decided to exercise. i did a Leslie Sansome dvd. I started out with the 1 mile walk and I could feel it. I think I'll do a longer walk tomorrow. I'm just so happy that I finally did it.

So second fill was on 1/10 it went perfectly fine had no issues. However on wed I work up very very sick I due to an unrelated medical condition developed an infection of cellulitis in my right leg. not the first time and i am sure wont be the last. well by the time I was able to go to the dr i was feeling very bad my blood pressure dropped to 87/50 the dr had me call someone to come pick me up and drive me to the er. I was admitted into the hospital on wednesday and just got out this afternoon, I am not upset at the fact i got sick what I am upset about is the fact they had me on so much iv fluids and iv antibiotics that i gained 9 pounds in like 4 days. :( I almost started crying in front of the poor nurse when he weightd me this morning. When I get sick like this I typically loose like 10 pounds in a week...... but i have never gianed bc i dont eat anything i dont have an appitite.

anywho that is my i guess venting for the night

As long as you feel better !

Don't worry, the water weight will come of.

Just get better. Its all water weight :)

I have good news and bad news.

I lost weight while on vacation over New Years. Unfortunately, I gained 2 pounds back since then. That's the good news.

The bad news is when I returned from vacation, I was laid off from my job. 23 years with the same company. Survived through countless mergers, layoffs, etc.

I think it may be time for me to change more than just my weight. Seriously considering moving out of NYC and reinventing myself. Work so hard just to live and nothing to show for it.

When God closes one door he usually opens a better one. Praying for you during this time....

Sorry to hear that !

I worked in Michigan, and we were layed off 5 years ago, with No Chance of Recall in sight !

So they paid for us to go to school, gave away our jobs to Mexico, and gave us Unemployment, and a Food Stamp Card !

I said in my opinion this just does not seem fare at all, and it's not.

This Depression is going to hit every state, so Good Luck on trying to find something that is not going to be affected by this Depression. I wish you Luck, and I hope you find something.

  • 2 weeks later...

Just wanted to check in here with everyone and give an update on me and my wife.

I'm struggling. Only lost 5lbs. I initially lost 10, and then gained 5 back. My wife and I were banded six days apart and the good news is that she now has restriction, although she is throwing up a lot. She has only had restriction for the last week or so, so I don't know if she's lost any weight yet. She does seem to be fitting into her clothes a little better and she is definitely eating less. I have my next fill scheduled on Feb 6, it will be my 5th fill. I hope to have restriction soon.

I'm still optimistic about my lapband, but it is hard to be patient. I hope everyone else is doing okay. The success stories on the website keep me motivated.

Hello my october bandsters.!! So my surgery date was October 14, 2011 and I just had my 4th fill to my 14cc band. I am now 9cc filled and FINALLY!! I feel the restriction...man...o..man...it has been hard...But finally I think Im there..and I started and 304 pre op diet and got my band at 287 now I am 264lbs so you can see that my weightloss has been very very slow. I been in a bootcamp training for 1 month, I go 2x a week because it IS very hard on my knees and wrists. but i joined again for this month in feb. I think even if it is 2x and some speed walking the other days..I should be good...praying to be in my low 250's by the end of the month...feeling Good....

How is every one else...??

We have a private group for October Bandsters. Scroll back a few pages, and instructions are ther for joining.

Come and tell everyone what's been going on.

Shirley.

oh ok i will check on it

I would REALLY like to join the group, but I have told almost NOONE about my band. Does it show up on your page that you are linked to the group?
