Dairy has some protien, but it's not all that significant. I would worry about how your getting in 2 servings of calcium. Protien should come from lean sources of meat such as fish, chicken, pork loin. Aim for at least 60 gms a day.

The OP is 5 days post op so still on liquids.

kimber, just because you don't like dairy products, you still need to gag down enough to get what you need nutritionally. Try mashed up refried beans and thin them out with enough taco sauce to get to the proper consistency.

Chicken, shrimp, lean lunch meat , tuna,Salmon, tilapia, peanut butter, nuts, protein bars, beans, veggie patties and any veggie products will help you get protein. I use to drink milk before my surgery but now I don't drink it at all. I do love cheese however. Start reading labels and find you a few high protein foods

Oh I just realized that you just had the surgery. I was out of luck the first week of my surgery because the protein drinks were nasty and made me want to puke. I didn't get good protein until 2 weeks post op. Good Luck to you, this is a hard time but it will pass and you will have plenty of time to make up for all the protein that you missed.

Muscle Milk Light has some Great Protein Shakes. You just add water to a couple of scoops of water.

COOKIES N CREME, PEANUT BUTTER CHOCOLATE, CHOCOLATE MILK, STRAWBERRY MILKSHAKE, and VANILLA CREME.

If these flavors interest you. P M me, and I will give you the website.

These are the flavors that I drink, and I get them for a reasonable price, and,,, there Good ! 25 G of Protein per 8 oz shake.

Shirley.

I use whey protein in Van., orange (crystal lite type) mix, ice , water & litlle milk if you can. Blens and it's like an orange slush with what you need.
