Straws are outlawed in my world. The doc harped on that one real hard. It let's to much air in.

I tend to drink & eat to quickly, so I have that air bubble thing often. I put my hands in the air and bend backwards. That seems to strech things out and move the bubble. Good luck.

I was also told no straw as well. I had that happen to me today when I switched to pureed food. I think I ate too fast. It eventually went away.

Welcome to your new way of burping! I think it's quite common that burping is now replaced with reflex hiccups caused by the phrenic nerve and the diaphragm. I know when I get my first hiccup that I'm about 2 bites away from being full. For me, the hiccups can come out of nowhere and can be loud. I just explain to people close to me that it's my new way of burping, and I can't control it.

Think of the anatomy of a burp... rumbling air forced from the bottom of the stomach up the esophagus to make the noise. There's now a stopgap between the stomach and your esophagus, so the "flow" has been interrupted. I just be mindful about eating slowly and sip when I drink - not gulp.

I'm having the opposite problem, I keep burping!

I can't burp,I can feel the bubble there but it won't come out! And when it does its like a hiccup burp that hurts. Any ideas?

GOD I WISH I COULD BURP!! scared.gifmad2.gifmad2.gifmad2.gifmad2.gif

I don't burp on my own anymore- I feel them come up and get stuck at the band and then I have to stretch out my throat and esophagus and push them out. Doesn't sound good does it laugh.gif

I don't burp as often as I did when I first got the band, but what I lack in quantity I make up in VOLUME! I do sometimes get that feeling that I have to burp, but can't...so annoying!
