Today I saw a old friend who on first sight said....

Ewwwww you look sick. I have had this happen from 2 men I dated prior to my surgery and the current man in my life said if I lose another pound I will be too little for him. Mind you I'm 177lbs... and wear a 10/12. I did come from a size 22 but damned maaannnnnnn. I'm beginning to have issues related to this.

I can't see myself like others see me, nor did I see myself as others saw me when I was a size 22. I was in denial then, maybe I'm in denial now???

Any advice on this topic would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Are you at a healthy bmi? The weight tends to drop off from the top to the bottom so your face may be taking a bit of a hit, I'm pretty sure it will even out. I don't think anybody should say you look sick - that's not nice.

Actually I've gotten nothing but compliments from people. Are these men only attracted to heavier women? That could be where the "ewww"s come from. I'm sure you look great! If you feel great too, then don't listen to the naysayers.

Maybe you dont look pysically healthy meaning your pale, sickly looking. Some people who have weight loss surgery if they dont take their Vitamins and eat right they do look sickly. I doubt its the weight it might just be the way you look. My ex boss had gastric bypass and she looks sick. It depends on what they mean by you look sick.

I get the same response especially from my mom, but I don't see it. I actually would like to lose another 26 pounds, but people got me scared to do so. I still think I look fat. We never see ourselves the same as others do. I bet if i saw you, not knowing you, I would think you looked fabulous.

omg Klassy - it's like you read my mind! I still think of myself as fat. I go to the shops and pick up the biggest size on the rack only to have to remind myself to swap that for the second smallest size! crazy, but one day we'll realise how we really look, it just takes time. So long as your doctor isn't telling you that you look sick, I'm sure the problem is with them, not you Thinknbig!

I wouldn't care if someone said I looked sick. A size 10/12 is not sickly. I bet you look really good. If someone gives you the eeeeewwww again, just tell them to kiss your grits!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
