What Does Burping Mean For You?

Recommended Posts

Since my last fill I've noticed that after a meal I can let out a HUGE belch. I've never been a belcher before so it is crazy! And I can keep doing it for a while after a meal. Does this happen to anyone else? Does it mean you are full? Ate too much? Too fast?

Happens to me when I eat to fast, don't chew properly, and/or after I've been 'unstuck.' angry.gif

I burp ALL the time now. I do notice that if I eat too fast or too much, I burp more frequently. It's funny and embarassing at the same time!

Ugh, I wish I could really burp! There have been a few times, when I'm on the phone with my sister, that I really just want to disgust her with a huge belch... and I get nothing. I only occasionally have these little barely audible burps after I've eaten too fast or a little too much. I've rarely been able to burp loudly before the band. But now... nothing. :(

I wish I was told about this side-effect before the surgery... If I had known, I definitely wouldn't have gotten the band (...juuust kidding).

For me there are 2 different kinds of burps. One is the kind from eating or drinking too fast. It's like I get some air in there with the food or drink. The other type is while the food moves through the stoma, or is done moving through, air from the lower stomach part can then come up and out. It's like I can feel it was trapped in the lower area and is finally getting the chance to come. Very strange at first, but now it seems pretty normal to me.

When I am full I get the hiccups and get burpy. If I onl get the hiccups it means I am eating too fast. If I hiccup and then burp it means I am done.

Everyone is different. Burping is such a pain and I think really gross but if that is how my body wants to tell me I am done, then thats ok.

I'm the opposite. I used to be a huge belcher but I rarely do anymore. I usually hiccup when I'm finishing up my meal, but sometimes it just happens randomly for no reason. Weird.

I still burp all the time! I could win a contest haha. It's mostly fine, but if I eat too much it gets really bad! Ugh, lesson has been learned.

A hiccup means I had enough. A loud BURP ! means my pluming is clean... There is nothing hung up or stuck.

So it's a good thing.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
