When did you get start....?

It looks like my paperwork says I can have clear liquids for the 1st seven days. Then I can move on to thicker liquids like protein shakes, applesauce, pudding, cottage cheese and eggs at day 8 and on. When did you get to start? I have only been having water and popsicles and a little broth. So ready for some applesauce or pudding. When did you get to start those?

From what I've read here, everyone is a little different.

I was clear Liquids for 3 days, the "heavy" liquids (Shakes, Soup, etc) for 4 days. Started "mushies" on day 8 for 2 weeks. Then reg food for week 4. First fill end of week 4.

I was 'liquids' for two weeks but that included protein shakes and creamed, strained soups. Then I went to softs (puddings, cottage cheese, scrambled eggs etc.) for 7-10 days and if I was tolerating that I could move onto solids.

I started full liquids the day after surgery. I think I would die if I had to do clear liquids for a week. The one day before surgery I had to do that was awful.

It is so true that there is a wide difference among surgeons. I was fed tuna salad & cranberry sauce before I could be discharged from the hospital! Didn't have to eat much but they wanted to make sure I could eat mushies, which I then stayed on for 4 weeks before moving to solids.

I was on clear liquids plus protein shakes 7 says, then full liquids (tomato, squash) soup plus protein shakes for 7 days, day 15 cottage and ricotta cheese, day 22 egg whites and puree soups, day 29 canned chicken or tuna.

Your orders say clear liquids, which is anything you can see through. When others could start on different stages doesn't really matter. What matters is what YOUR doctor allows. If you need something more, call your surgeon's office and ask if you can add protein shakes or something else.

I was expecting to be on clear liquids for 7 days, but was able to move to full liquids after 3 as I was healing very well.

I was only on clear liquids the day of surgery and the day after. Then Full liquids for 12 days. Mushies for weeks 3-5.

I was on clear liquids for 3 days post op then full liquids and proteins shakes for another 2 weeks. at 2 weeks post op I started on mushies and at 4 weeks I started on regular foods. It's funny how different doctors have different guidelines

Clear liquid 3 days, liquids for 1 week, mushes 1 week and then slowing added solids in. Every Doctor is different for what reason I do not know but I suggest you follow what your doctors says.

Cheri

I had clear liquids and protein shakes 7 days before surgery.

full liquids 7 days after surgery

10 days pureed food

10 days soft food
