I finally had it!!!!

OMG! I am so excited! I finally was banded on 9/13 (the day before I turned 39) and I am in awe of this whole experience. For a minute I thought that they might cancel my surgery again due to my raised blood sugar levels but I was able to get them under control and my reading was 124 the morning of my surgery. Since then, I have been eating the VERY small amounts allowed and really do feel feel full. I totally feel the restriction. Although I cheated a bit and tried to eat something that I should not be trying till the 2nd week post-op but quickly realized that it was not worth it cause I came up immediatly. I feel great right now. In May I weighed 234 and right now I am at 209. (although the day of surgery I weighed 215) So, 6 pounds in 6 days works for me. Lets just hope I can keep this momentum flowing!! I have already started taking my dog walking and it has tired me out but my heart rate is getting up and burning the calories! I hope this continues and does not fizzle out. I have even tried on clothes that I have not worn since the spring and they are falling off as I walk. yeah!! Thanks for all the help and support!

Congratulations!! I am scheduled to be banded on 10/8!

In your post you stated you hoped you did not get cancelled again - how high was your blood sugar that caused them to cancel? One diabetic to another, I do not want to be cancelled!

I can not wait to follow your journey!

The anesthesiologist is able to control your blood sugar levels during surgery. My surgeon wanted me to see my PCP to make sure that she was aware that my sugar levels were not under control.

Take Care, good luck and keep me posted!

Sounds you're doing really good, I have 7 more days of this liquid crap, 9-28 is banding date. I had a class this morning after preop, and confessed that I had eaten a boiled egg last night, and she told me that if I wasn't committed to this, maybe I had better rethink it. Can anybody tell me if you did any cheating preop that didn't hurt. That one little egg tested like steak, its not like I ate chocolate cake.

Way to go...keep it up...resist the temptations to eat too soon, allow time for everything to heal! Keep the momentum going!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
