5 day post op - itching like crazy!

I had my surgery on 8/20. I am recovering well, but I have a tremendous amount of itching in the area of my incisions. Crazy itching! Today was the first day of no pain meds, but I just woke up from the uncontrollable itching. Just took some more pain meds to try and calm it down. Any suggestions???? Please help.

im finaly less itchy a week and two days out!!! it gets better!

Your incisions are healing; try to leave them be if you can.

I had terrible itching over my incisions too. I ended up with an allergic reaction to either the steri-strips or the glue they put on my skin to keep the steri-strips in place. I ended up taking them off and had hives on all my incisions. I used Cortisone cream (with my doc's premission) which helped the itching. It took about a week for the hives to go away completely, but they eventually did. Hope you feel better.

This!! I had a reaction to the Dermabond. I itched like mad until I got it all off and started using cortizone and taking Benadryl.

I'd call your surgeon and let him know and see what he says.
