August rush 2010!!!

We already have 2 other August threads going but let's all try to consolidate all of our thoughts and encouragement into one thread so that we can all support each other and face our fears and struggles together.

I was originally to be banded last March 2010 so I started posting there and I love how that thread is still going with many of them having great success and encouraging each other.

My name is Dee and after much hassle with my surgeons office staff I have a surgery date of 8/16.

I have an appointment with him on 8/3 and there I will discuss my concerns about aftercare and dealing with his staff. Hopefully, all will go well and I won't have to cancel my surgery and find another surgeon.

I have been going through this process now for over a year. I started out with NYU but found after I paid them $750.00 out of pocket that my insurance is out of network for them. They made promises but I didn't want to risk getting stuck with a humongous bill. I want to be thin and healthy not bankrupt.

I found another surgeon that accepts my ins. and he seems nice enough and is the Director of the bariactric program at his hospital but his staff has treated me like I'm begging for a free surgery.

Well anyway, I'm planning to start my pre-op liquid diet on 8/2 anyway on my own advice.

I'm looking for much support and encouragement and am willing to do the same for all of you August rush people.

Kellyodoran came up with the name August rush!!

Hi Fellow August Banders,

Just curious...how many days does everyone plan to take off of work for the surgery? Also...for those of you who are keeping this top secret, what have you told your employer when requesting the time off?

My surgery is on a Friday and I'm thinking of taking off Monday as well and going back Tuesday...hope this is enough time....I am a little nervous.....

I took a week off... and just told them I was having surgery. It's not anyone's business WHAT surgery I'm having...

Goodluck to all those getting surgery this week! I wish you all well! See ya on the other side of happiness!

Hey everyone!

My surgery is on MONDAY! the 2nd. I cant believe how close this is getting.

MMMAKAILA hope your surgery goes stunningly!

Well good morning everyone! It is now exactly 48 hours till "HAPPY BAND-LAND" As far as the diet, haven't cheated one bit! But I have been stuffing my face with sf icecream, sf pudding, lf yogurt (yum), and cream soup. I have also been peeing like a racehorse, and managed to loose 10 pounds of water i'm sure! Been going to bed at 8:00 so tomorrow will hurry up and get here! Going to be packing my hospital bag today, I know they have lists here and in my personal papers....Will be reading up on that. I ain't going to a beauty contest, so I really am not to worried about it.

I hope I have enough creamy stuff to last today as I won't be going to town until tomorrow.....remember I live up in the mountians, don't get to town everyday. All the demons are pretty quiet in my head today, can't think of much else to say!

PEACE OUT till later

KELLY:biggrin:

Speedy recovery to those of you having surgery this week! Mine is the 24th and I start a two-week pre-op diet next Monday. I'm going to try my darndest not to cheat.

Hey all my fellow August Rushers,

Along with this great site I have gotten a lot of positive energy and encouragement from Gloria and Sandi .

They have had long term success and don't mind sharing so come and join us over there too.

Being so close to surgery I'm perusing the net for all the insight and support and encouragement I can get.

Hey Aline, you found us!!

Are you on your pre-op diet yet ? or does your surgeon require one?

I went in today to begin working on my classroom since I go back to work RIGHT after my surgery! Man...it made it so real today... Preparing... so fun! ;) it usually takes me a few days just to place the furniture how I want it... Nevermind the set-up and decorating!!!... Apparently I am WAY excited b/c the furniture set-up is COMPLETE! Heh.... Bring on the band! :)

Hi all! I am being banded on August 10th! I am on day 4 of an all liquid pre op diet. It really hasn't been that bad. I'm excited to be finally on my way of permanent weight loss! This site has been fantastic for gathering information and support...and I cant wait for that to continue! Emsey, do you live in Belgium? That is where I met my husband....and a beautiful country. I look forward to seeing all of the hope and possibilities ahead of us!

No I'm in the UK.. going over to Belgium on Wednesday for 4 nights... on my own! bit nervous!

Its much cheaper over there than the UK and the hospitals are just as good.

I love seeing good success stories! Thanks for boost, I needed it! I am on day 6 now of pre op liquids, and I took my kids to the McD's drive thru. It was tortue, but I stuck it out. Good luck to this weeks surgers!

Well fellow AUGUST RUSH friends, guess what? The Dr office called me this morning and my surgery is tomorrow morning! 24 hours earlier than the previous 3 day early reschedule! I'm so excited, but also kind of bitchy cause, haven't had a period in 9 months, and I started spotting this morning (Murphey's Law). Oh well I'm not going to worry bout it and maybe it will just go away...lol

Oh yeah I have to take the poo-poo medicine today , well in a little while......Never done that before. Probably the next time I talk to all you fine people I will be banded.

That's all for now!

PEACE OUT
