  1. I am waiting on insurance approval. A few years ago, I had extensive adhesion surgery in my abdomen. I want the Lap-Band, but I'm really worried about adhesions again and attaching to the band and port. Anyone have these issues? Thanks for your time. I plan on discussing this with the surgeon when I get to visit with him again.
  2. Hi All! I'm checking in too. My weight loss got off to a slow start, but I think I'm going down for now. I keep messing with the same 5 lbs by gaining/losing, but I think I have that under control. My band is at a good place. I know I need to get my a** on the treadmill and be consistent. Glad to see that you all are stil around and talking to each other. I felt like I needed to be in contact with some of you just to keep my confidence up and for support. Glad to read your questions and replies! Donna
  3. Stop whining about the scales! Be happy you lost weight! I have not dropped any nor have I gained any...finally, received my third fill and the doctor went aggressive. Finally, I have restriction and the scale is going down. Be happy all of you that have lost 20, 30, and more pounds in a short amount of time. You could be in my shoes...
  4. I too have lost inches and not much weight. I'm nearly 2 months out and have lost very little weight. However, I know that exercise is the key, and, I will start seeing how little I can actually eat...drinkking while eating is still a problem for me. Many congrats to all of you that have had weight loss or are near your goal.
  5. Consider yourself very fortunate for your weight loss...
  6. Hello all, I am getting very bummed out. I keep losing and gaining the same 4 lbs. I had my first fill on Oct. 4 and my second one will be coming up on Oct. 18. While I feel a tiny bit of restriction, I am getting very hungry between meals and it's getting difficult to control it. My protein shakes just aren't cutting it any longer. I plan on talking to the doctor when I see him next week. While I try not to compare myself to some of you who have been successful at losing a fair amount of weight, it's still depressing that I haven't! By the way, I had my surgery on August 24.:puke:
  7. With some dedication on my part ie exercise, exercise, exercise, I'm up for your challenge. I would love to drop at least 30 lbs. by Christmas. I too am going on a cruise, but not until early March. I've got to get with the program and get this weight off!
  8. Thank you for your responses...
  9. I at times like to drink Protein Shakes just to get in some quick protein. There are times that I don't feel like eating much, so I'll drink a shake...
  10. Hello All, I'm with the rest of you. I'm finding myself getting more and more hungry. Some days I can eat quite a bit and other days I feel the restriction. I had a small amount of fill in my band during surgery, and received my first fill on Oct. 4. I go for my second fill on Oct. 18. I too am getting discouraged...
  11. Hello metropolitan Kansas City folks, I was banded on Aug. 24 and I'm not doing well with weight loss. I'm getting a bit discouraged. I keep losing and gaining the same 4 or 5 lbs. I've had 1 fill. I see Dr. Malley again on Oct. 18. I'm going to talk to him about being a bit more agressive. Has anyone had any luck with that? I'm getting hungrier between meals and protein shakes wear off after a short amount of time. I'm going back to the basics to see if I can get the scale to drop. Any advice you all can give me will be very much appreciated! Thanks for your time.

    ohhhh-so embarrassed!

I too suffer from blowing out the pipes since being banded. I use GasX...
  14. I am now in "bandster hell"! I can eat just about anything if I eat slow enough. I received my first fill on Oct. 4. Will be getting another by the surgeon on Oct. 18. I'm going to talk him into being a bit more agressive if that's possible. I'm only down 10-15 lbs and I mean if fluctuates! I hate it. For Pete's sake, I'm going on a cruise in early March and I've got to get this weight off! I'm getting enough protein in. However, I need to make myself exercise. I know that is part of the key. Thanks for all of your posts.
  15. I was banded on 8/24 and had very little pain. I had some slight shoulder pain, but was able to get through it. The only nagging problem that I had was a knot in one of my incisions was kind of bothersome, more irritating than anything, but I felt really good.

    what's wrong? :(

I had surgery 8/24 and received a bit of a fill in my AP Standard band. Most of the time I don't feel like eating, but I do have times when I am really hungry and can't eat much when I do. I believe this is a good thing...
  17. I have not had a fill yet and I am eating much smaller portions. There are times when I am not that hungry and there are times there are. While the weight has not dropped off of me, I have not exercised like I should be. I have lost inches and I'm getting into other fat jeans that I couldn't wear before. On getting full, I overate one time and it was extremely uncomfortable. I learned my lesson.
  18. At the recommendation of my surgeon, one Flintstone with Iron daily and one complex B vitamin daily. I do add in the Citrical Petite calcium and a vitamin C.

    Best tip

Thanks for the tips. I'm always looking for ways to get in the protein that's suppose to be tasteless (however, it smells and tastes gross, and it's makes water a milky color = yuck).
  20. I have the Standard AP band and received a slight fill during surgery. Since surgery, I have not been able to eat the quanity of food or eat just anything I want. I do pick and choose what to eat, and I've lost weight and a few inches slowly. Some food just doesn't go down well. So far, I have avoided white chicken, other than canned chicken, pasta, and breads. I will get my first fill on Oct. 4. I do not feel like I'm on a diet. I just can't much smaller portions.
  21. I know what some of you are going to say, but I'm nearly a month out and I'm down about 6 pounds since surgery. Some days I'm up and some days I'm down a bit more. I have to watch what I eat because not everything goes down well. I'm going to start my TaeBo videos back up this evening...tell me this will help. Thanks for your time!
  22. I get my first fill on Oct. 4. I'm not exercising yet...with that said, I'm going to get started to jump start the scale, as I need to see the numbers go down. I have lost inches. I am not hungry most of the time. I feel obligated to eat at noon, but choose to have another protein shake or I will eat some soup with crackers. I don't get hungry again until 4 or 5 pm. There are times that I don't even feel like drinking a shake at lunch, but I want to get something in. I envy those of you that have lost 30 lbs in a month. I'm 4'11" and I need to get this weight off! :smile2:
  23. Ristina, I'm with you and felt some restriction after surgery; had to really watch what I ate or it wouldn't go down. I can feel it building up until I have to dislodge it then I feel 100% better. I get my first fill on Oct. 4 and I'm looking forward to it. I did manage to eat a small steak that was grilled medium-rare and it went down very well. Otherwise, I have to really be careful of what I eat. It's still a huge trial and error at meal times. :smile2:
  24. I did try some pizza with a "crispy" crust, and ate it very slowly, with very small bites. Went down well. Regular crust pizza, no way it was going down. I ended up eating 2 slices of the crispy crust pizza and I was full and not my usual 4 or 5 slices.
