August rush 2010!!!

We already have 2 other August threads going but let's all try to consolidate all of our thoughts and encouragement into one thread so that we can all support each other and face our fears and struggles together.

I was originally to be banded last March 2010 so I started posting there and I love how that thread is still going with many of them having great success and encouraging each other.

My name is Dee and after much hassle with my surgeons office staff I have a surgery date of 8/16.

I have an appointment with him on 8/3 and there I will discuss my concerns about aftercare and dealing with his staff. Hopefully, all will go well and I won't have to cancel my surgery and find another surgeon.

I have been going through this process now for over a year. I started out with NYU but found after I paid them $750.00 out of pocket that my insurance is out of network for them. They made promises but I didn't want to risk getting stuck with a humongous bill. I want to be thin and healthy not bankrupt.

I found another surgeon that accepts my ins. and he seems nice enough and is the Director of the bariactric program at his hospital but his staff has treated me like I'm begging for a free surgery.

Well anyway, I'm planning to start my pre-op liquid diet on 8/2 anyway on my own advice.

I'm looking for much support and encouragement and am willing to do the same for all of you August rush people.

Kellyodoran came up with the name August rush!!

Tomorrow is the DAY!! I am excited, and nervous too. Been on pre-op for 12 days... Its been pretty hard.. had a few crackers and one day actually had a piece of extra crispy bacon. I think I've lost about 12 pounds total.. I didn't weigh myself on my home scale before my pre-op diet, but based on my weight at the dr office and my weight on my scale now, its about 12pds. SO I'm going with that, Surgery is at 8:30, have to check in at 6:30AM. Went grocery shopping today to get some stuff I can eat in the next 2 weeks. I will try to post tomorrow when I'm all settled down. Wish me luck.. C U all on the POST-SIDE:thumbup:

Good luck, SHaron!! Can't wait to hear you story when you are feeling well.

Good luck to this week's banders! Wishing the best!!!

to the fellow banders being banded this week. good luck. I cant believe that it is almost here. Wednesday is my day!!

I will be leaving in thirty minutes to go to Boston for my 3:00 surgery!! I have cleaned my house, did food shopping, and now just relaxing for a few before I leave for the hospital. I am nervous, but excited!! Looking forward to loosing weight and becoming healthy!!

Good Luck to everyone who is being banded this week!!

Julie

Thank you Diane :))

Good luck to all of you that are being banded this week. I'm loving my band. Love it! Love it! Love it!

I did wonder what in the world I had done to myself the first couple of days, but I'm so glad that I had it done.

Mine is tomorrow morning. A little nervous, but more excited I think. It feels like Christmas Eve, where you think Santa is going to leave you a chunk of coal but you're really hoping for that sweet new ride rider BB gun....Fingers crossed...:)

So how are all the banded folks doing?? I am doing pretty good. I am still having some pains where my port is. The area is a little numb still, nerves that must have been cut during surgery, I'm sure. But still sore when I try to bend over but nothing I can't deal with.

I am still on mushies and just decided to treat myself with peanut butter and it gave me indigestion so I guess no more for me.

I see my doc on thursday but I think it's just post op and no fill for another 2 weeks but we'll see.

Love to hear how everyone else is doing.

Hi Diane, I have had my band exactly one week today. I am starting to feel much better less gas and am trying to eat more. Mostly liquid diet but am not very hungry which is good. I was weak for a while lack of protein shakes and fluids I guess. But it is getting easier. Stitches still a littles sore but not too bad. I see my Dr. this Thurs will let y'all know what he says. Take care and good luck to all Aug Rushers banded or waiting. It is soo gonna be worth it.

Hey Diane,

I'm doing great , will start mushies in about 2 days.

The liquid diet passed by in a breeze didn't really think about it much because I was not hungry, can't wait to move on though.

Most of us that have been banded already are in the August rush in bandland thread.

best wishes to all who get their band this week:smile: My day is the 26th -Thursday....not too nervous. This site REALLY helps.

Well wish me luck! After an 8 hour drive last night, I am off for my surgery! I am so excited and very nervous! Will update later this afternoon! Have a great day everyone and good luck to everyone getting banded soon!

Woohooo! I am banded!! Everything went very well. The only pain I have is at my port area. It mostly hurts to sit up or lay down. Once I am walking or laying down then I am fine. Going back to sleep now, have a great day! 
