  2. I have only been banded since Aug- I have lost 25pnds SUPER SLOW-- a little frustrated cuz doc gave me unfill last time thought I was too tight.. But before that- I had a hard time eating a lot of things and I loved it except for the hair loss. The easiest things for me to eat were Tuna salad, and oatmeal.. I could eat meat but mostly just by the end of the day-- I am a terrible chewer so I threw up a lot of what I ate cuz it was stuck.. I love 6 pnds in 6 weeks and now I feel like I am gaining weight.. I am mad that I let the doc unfill me.. But I am going to try to stick to high Protein and low fat.. The problem is when you are tight- The bad stuff goes down easier than the good stuff!! Good Luck-- Enjoy some good soups and tuna salad.
  3. That is the definition of "Bandster Hell" as most people refer to it.. I was banded 3weeks ago, Just starting to get that this sucks feeling.. Still a little sore around my port, and don't really feel like exercising mostly lacking energy.. There are days I cannot stomach any more protein drinks, but finding the new things I can eat is a little scary.. very worried about gaining weight.. THe loss has slowed down, especially as I am adding more solids. I don't get my first fill until Sept 27. I am sure the Real Bandster Hell will start in about another week or so..
  4. Thanks for the info... I am only a week banded, but I have a 2 teenage daughters(17 and 14)-TRADE U!!!-- my 17 year old causes all kind of problems at home, and Ive noticed when I start getgin stressed and all upset- My band gets tight, my chest hurts... Its such an obvious sign.. I'm glad to know its actually my body trying to tell me to calm down.. Good Luck.. and just think-- He could be twins... LOL:ohmy:
  5. I'm trying to find out where the avg port is attached.. I'm worried that mine is too High... I can feel it or at least that's what I think I feel.. But it seems that the port sits just under where my underwire is, and its really uncomofotable. Just wondering if anyone else's port seems to be that high??
  6. How are you doing? How was your surgery.. and are you feeling ok..
  7. Wow Lisa, what kind of pre-op diet are you going to have to be on for a month. That seems like a long time.. Hopefully you'll get some veggies and fruits to eat. I'm feeling better. went to work today for a few hours but now I'm tired. Im having problems with either heartburn or gas not sure which.. Just feels like a constant lump/discomfort in my throat and chest. Trying gas x and Pepcid.. See the doctor on Monday so hopefully he tells me something. Called today, but didn't get many answers. Where is your surgery.. Can't wait to hear how you guys did. GOOD LUCK
  8. It probably depends on your insurance company.. I had to do all the testing first. First I attended a seminar to learn about the lap band, then I completed a psych eval, then submitted a letter from my GP, along with 2 years of weight records, I would submit your sleep study, but its possible your insurance would require an update. There is an insurance forum, you might be able to find someone with your same insurance company that could help you more. GOOD LUCK.. Just stick with it-- they will approve you
  9. What are your diet restrictions.? I'm not really sure if you are 4 days until your band or you were banded 4 days ago.. Either way.. I would say probably not, most doctors want you to continue on a liquid for at least a week , but it depends on what your doctor has told you.. If you are not on any restrictions then I would say.. Enjoy your salmon.

Tomorrow is the DAY!! I am excited, and nervous too. Been on pre-op for 12 days... Its been pretty hard.. had a few crackers and one day actually had a piece of extra crispy bacon I also had a couple of bagel bites one day too. It seemed so hard for me, not eating with the rest of the family. I think I've lost about 12 pounds total.. I didn't weigh myself on my home scale before my pre-op diet, but based on my weight at the dr office and my weight on my scale now, its about 12pds. SO I'm going with that, Surgery is at 8:30, have to check in at 6:30AM. Went grocery shopping today to get some stuff I can eat in the next 2 weeks.

  12. Hi my name is Sharon, I have just started my new journey, I am currently on day 5 of my pre-op liquid diet.. It has been tough.. I know most of its in my head. Surgery Day is Aug 23, with Dr Follwell. I am nervous that this won't work for me, I tend to be self sabbottaging. I am really excited, but this pre-op diet is hard for me.
  13. Good Luck to all you being banded tomorrow! I am on a 12 day pre-op diet... Mine is all clear liquids, it has been really tough. I am a huge afterschool snacker, but as long as I am busy, I don't have much of a problem.. I wish my doctor would of given me a certain amount of weight he wanted me to lose... Cheese sticks and light veggies, would be great right now... I am getting really tired of protein shakes, I only really like the chocolate, and its getting boring.. Chicken soup broth is really good! Havent started much of an exercise program Day 5 is almost over and I get banded in 7 more days
  14. I'm on day 4 of clear liquids and protein shakes. Surgery day is Aug 23!! Today I am on my way to a weekend out of town and everyone in the car is eating fast food. I am so irritable! I did have a bite of dinner last night! It was ravioli. I'm worried about today! Shopping all day at the outlet mall. I hope once I get over this hump it will be better- it's not even that I'm hungry that much- I am so crabby, I get mad at my family for leaving food everywhere and my husband just eats what ever he wants whenever he wants. I wish they were more sensitive! Love the support on the boards! Looking fwd to being banded!

I decided to start my blog mostly because I thought it might help me feel better. Today is Day 3 of pre-op diet.. I am feeling hungry today. Haven't had a protein shake yet.. but been adding protein powder to my coffee and crystal light. NOt crazy about it... Hoping to have a shake and chicken broth for lunch... If I can last that long. I cannot even imagine not eating for 8 more days... OOO WOW.... THAT SEEMS LIKE A LONG TIME! I have been waiting a long time for this... Started this process with a friend back in Feb 2009..> Finally got insurance approval- and I am really doing this.. I get mad at myself becuase had I not missed an appt in December with my doctor my 6mos supervised diet would of been over in April and surgery would of been June instead of when school is just starting. I am looking forward to surgery day.. I haven't gotten nervous yet, just really excited...
  16. Hello ALL! I am failry new to the boards, I first started this journey in Feb 2009! I finally got my insurance approval and Surgery is scheduled for Aug 23! I started my pre-op diet today.. My doctor requires 14 days of clear liquids only! I am trying to figure out which protein drinks are the best! So far I have tied the Adkins, which wasn't so bad, and the EAS advantage, which i didn't really care for... I'm thining of getting the unjury- especially the chicken soup and the unflavored. I am so excited to get banded.. although I am nervous and worried about what I will eventually be able to eat.. My problem isn't usually over-eating.. Its eating the wrong things, especially fast food. I am glad to have the support of everyone here, and love all the great info..
  17. Hi everyone, I am fairly new to the boards, I just got my approval last week, and they set my surgery date for Aug 23. I haven't officially started my pre-op diet, although I have tried to cut back on the Junky stuff I eat. I have all my pre-op testing tomorrow(8/10) and my dietician class as well.. so I guess that is when I will get all my pre-op diet instructions. I never really thought my insurance would ever approve me so I am so nervous that my date is soooo soon.. I work for our local school district and I start back next week.. Its going to be so hard, everyone goes out to lunch the first week before the kids start. I am hoping to only take 2 days off of work and go back on Wed. I look forward to all the info I am going to learn.. Thanks everyone
