    Anyone living in canda?

Hi everyone! I live in Alberta as well, 45 mins south of Bonnyville! Smilinginside, who does your fills in Bville? I had my surgery done in Regina, SK and currently am driving 8 hours to get .5cc's. It would be so nice to just come to Bonnyville for them! Btw, I was banded Aug 2010
  2. Hi All, Today is my 6 Month Bandiversary!! I am down 43 pounds! I have gone back and forth with the same 5 lbs for the last 2 months but I am not worried about it! I just had surgery on Friday to remove a large ovarian mass and I am starting to feel a little better. I started the C25K in January using the iPhone app and I loved it, now to heal and get back to it. I am going for another fill on March 11 (I currently have 6 cc in a 14cc band) and I am not looking forward to the 8 hour drive but looking forward to not feeling hungry! WOOHOO this is a great day because I am sure I would be up 20 lbs if I hadn't gotten this surgery, I am so thankful for my lap-band. I honestly didn't think that at 6 months into I would still be learning but sure enough I am learning something new everyday. Slow and steady wins the race... and is easier on the skin too! Have a great day everyone!!
  3. Hi Everyone! So I've been banded almost 6 months and am doing good, I love my band! I have 6 cc in a 14cc band and I need another fill, but, I am scheduled for surgery on Friday to remove a rapidly growing ovarian cyst and maybe my ovary as well. It hurts and I really cant wait to have it removed, plus my CA-125 cancer screening test has come back a little high, which is freaking me out! Friday can't come soon enough! I'm wondering how my Lap-Band will be affected during recovery? I've called my surgeon and he has assured me I do NOT need an unfill as long as I inform the anesthesiologist and they are prepared with anti-nauseant medication immediately after surgery. I am planning on doing liquids for 48 hours pre-surg, although i'm not sure how I will get all 60g of Protein in on broth and Jello! ( Doctors orders for bowel prep). Should I do liquids or mushy's after surgery? I am taking Gravol and Gas-X with me, my housecoat and slippers and I'm not sure what else. My brain is in a million places right now and any advice regarding another surgery would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much! Car
  4. Thanks Sue, Unfortunately I am not able to get to my Lap-Band surgeon for an unfill because he is an 8 hour drive East of me and my surgery is 3 hours West of me...I sure hate country living sometimes! lol I am in Alberta and we need a surgeon referral for fills/unfills and there is a 2 month waiting list in Edmonton. Hopefully the anti nausea meds will work for me, my surgeon isn't worried so I am trying not to either.

  6. Ok guys I need some help! I was banded on Aug 24...yay! I was doing so good, but now i feel like I'm failing! I can eat anything I want, and I know I am eating too fast. I have had 2 fills and am around 5cc in a 14cc band. I am hoping once I get my third fill on Dec 7 that I will have more restriction and it will force me to slow down. Am i harming my band right now if I eat too fast? I am not getting stuck, I am not feeling full after 1/2- 1 cup of food, and I find i am grazing throughout the day! AARGGHHH! lol Is anyone else feeling this way?

    Christmas Challenge

I'm starting a week late but I am in for 14 pounds!!
  8. Hi Bebrie,

I am so happy with my decision!! Everyone at Omni is really good. Dr. Kaban did my surgery and Dr. Pooler does my fills and I love them both! My only problem is that I live 8 hours away and I'm not sure how that drive will be in winter time. I do live closer to Edmonton but there is a wait list of 2.5 years! I would rather self-pay then have waited that long! My only regret is that I didn't do this sooner, I have lost 31 pounds so far and I have had 2 fills, I am going for my 3rd on Tuesday. The surgery wasn't that bad for me, within 3 days i was off my pain meds because they made me nauseous and regular tylenol was working fine. After about a week I felt almost 100%! Everyone is different and unfortunately you cant tell how your body will react until you get it done! I wish you all the luck in the world!! feel free to msg me for any other questions! Good Luck! :)

  9. My doctor is 8 hours away from me and I had to go back weeks later for a check up. We stopped a few times and stretched, i packed band friendly post op foods with me and Gas-x strips and a pillow, it wasn't bad for me at all. But everyone is different. Try and think ahead to make your trip as comfortable as possible (we have a big pick up truck so I brought a step stool to be able to hop in and out easier). I personally was off my pain meds after 3 days and felt almost 100% after a week. Good Luck!!

    Halloween Challenge

AWESOME! I love Mini challenges. I go for my first fill on Sept 28, hopefully i can lose 16 lbs by halloween!! It will sure help with that cute costume I ordered today! lol:lol:
  11. Woohooo! I am banded!! Everything went very well. The only pain I have is at my port area. It mostly hurts to sit up or lay down. Once I am walking or laying down then I am fine. Going back to sleep now, have a great day! 
  12. Well wish me luck! After an 8 hour drive last night, I am off for my surgery! I am so excited and very nervous! Will update later this afternoon! Have a great day everyone and good luck to everyone getting banded soon!
  13. Wow! Is this month ever going fast! I am already on day 10 of my 14 day Optifast Pre-op diet (Surgery is Aug 24!!). The first few days were hard mentally but now I have to force myself to drink the shakes, I'm just not hungry! The vanilla flavored Optifast I find horrible! Thank goodness for Coconut flavoring... instant Pina Colada! haha I am down 15 pounds so far! Woohoo Congrats to everyone who has been Banded so far this month! Keep posting your surgery info, it's really nice to read about what's coming! (especially the pain free posts!) Good Luck to everyone being banded in the next 11 days!!! Take care everyone!
