Day 3 and I just lost it...

Recommended Posts

Okay great so its three days after my surgery, the thought of more chicken broth is actually making me queasy...and then...I just started crying, I mean bawling...for no reason for like a half an hour. I don't even know what upset me.

Have I lost it?

Sorry to hear you were crying but no you didn't lose it. You have been through a great change in your life. It's normal as well as getting sick of the chicken broth. Things do get better. Give it time. Try some sugar free ice pops if you can at this stage. They are Yummy. And help with the swelling.

It's common to feel a bit down after surgery. Also to feel like "what the h*ll did I do?". You are more than likely going thru a little of missing food of any substance. And whether you used it as a crutch for comfort or stress plays a role also. Recognize it for what it is and don't be too hard on yourself. You'll snap out of it. The liquid diet is really the hardest part of the journey - hands down. Just look forward to the mushies!

Hi,

Yup, it happened to me last night (day 7). Just started to cry like a baby. Lucky my husband understood and just gave me a long hug. He got drenched with my tears.

We've been thru a lot of physical and emotional changes. We deserve a good CRY. Hang in there!!

Anathesia (can't spell lol) will sometimes make people deppressed. As others have said, hang in there, it will get better. Best wishes!

the SAME EXACT thing happened to me a few days after surgery. i thought i was going nuts because i just burst out into tears for no apparent reason and was feeling kind of down. in fact at my one week post-op my biggest concern was my mental health because i would just have these random crying bits. i think it is pretty normal though. you went through a BIG change. and honestly, for me, once i was off the liquid diet, the crying went away.

Keep your chin up!!!

It gets better when you start eating again. I am 1 month post-op. My 1st week after surgery I think I cried 6-7 times and I have no idea why! I think its the lack of nutrician, surgery/anesthesia, etc, etc! You have made a great decision to have the band. remember it is only a tool to help "you" make the journey! And you will do great!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
