    Stall?

I am 5.5 months out from mini bypass and wondering if I am in a stall. I haven’t had one yet but it’s been 15 days since I’ve lost anything. I’ve also noticed my restriction not kicking in - is that normal? Does that mean I’ve stretched my stomach?
  2. so first the picture... i dont like showing my face online... so sorry. But yea starting weight 317lb and size 57 pants and 4XL shirt Now 186lb size 34 pants and size large shirt which is a little big So before surgery i did not date for a very long time. I was really big and really never found anyone interested in me. Now almost 1 year and 1 month after surgery i get hit on a ton... and for me being a guy that is awesome. Literally had 2 girls at work fighting over me which was insane. Had to put a stop to it because it was getting bad lol. But wow. i swear if i was taller than 5'4 i would probably get hit on more haha. But its nice. My best friend said to buy a wedding band and wear it to stop them from hitting on me lol. But its nice noticing girls looking and not looking at me like ewwww he is huge.
  3. Five-week follow-up for gastric bypass and now on lifetime food plan. No restrictions.  In all that time I was fortunate to get sick only one time, week 1, on Easter. Chicken broth...go figure.

  4. Hello Everyone, This is my 3rd week post-op and I've finally switched to soft foods!! However, I have gained 2 pounds. I'm still only having around 2 oz of food per meal. The only new items I've added are shredded chicken and low fat string cheese. Someone please tell me this is normal. I'm eating enough to gain 2 pounds but not enough to have a bm, what the heck!
  5. I’m at a loss and not a good one. I’m 2 months post-op and the scale has not moved in 4 or 5 weeks. I’m back in the gym (competitive lifter) but not lifting heavy (130lb deadlift to start). I will admit that my diet can use some work. I’ve been under some extreme stress from work and a have not been sleeping well. I want to cry everytime I hop on the scale hoping for some movement only to be stuck in the same 2-3 lb range. My surgeon hopes for more weight loss during my 1 month appointment so I can’t even imagine what she will say when I go back in 4 weeks. I just don’t know what to do.
  6. I had my surgery on Nov 29, 2022. Things have been going really well then boom the dreaded stall has hit. I haven't lost anything in about 6 weeks. I have been monitoring what I am eating, making sure i get in the vitamins and protein. I do need to increase my exercise, I am so worn out after working all day. I am seeking any suggestions on how to break thru this stall. It is driving me crazy.....
  7. Hi all, I am week 2 into my full liquid diet. I am feeling hungry almost every 1 or 1.5 hour. I can eat yogurt or drink a protein shake in 30-40 minutes, but sometimes still hungry. I’m averaging 72g of protein this week. I’m not sure if I’m having fathom hunger or I need to sip/eat more often. someone please help ease my mind.
  8. I just had my lap band surgery on 10-30-08, and today was my 2 week post op check. I have lost 23 lbs!!! So I am off to a good start, but I have not had any "real" food yet. My Dr has said I can start eating some deli meats, cheese, tuna, eggs - It is slow going but so far so good. I basically wanted to go ahead and sign up and say hello - I am open to any helpful hints or words of advice

    My 2 Week Update

I also posted this on the Pos-Op board, but I thought I should share it with my December friends, too. It's been two weeks since my surgery, and I have updates. I lost 20 pounds on my 2 week pre-op diet, and since then I've lost 14 pounds more. I've been absolutely fanatical about following all the rules of each stage of the diet. I want to succeed, and I especially don't want complications (slips, erosions, etc.) I know sometimes that's unavoidable, but at least I won't have any guilt if it happens. liquid Phase: After reading on these boards that many people gain weight before their first fill, I was deeply concerned that I would lose my progress. So on my liquid phase, after the first few days where I could only get down broth and tea, I stuck pretty much to my pre-op diet, not eating the vegetables of course, but adding in more Protein shakes, for a total of 800-1200 calories a day. I did not drink diluted juice even though it was "permitted," sticking instead to Protein Shakes and, two times, fat-free milk. Mushy Phase: I knew from reading these boards that a major pitfall for many bandsters is the mushy phase. Being that we're hungry and mushies go down easily, the calories can easily add up - many people understandably gain weight during this stage. I didn't want that to happen, so I was afraid to move forward to mushies - but I knew I should leave the liquid diet behind already. I was trying to solve the problem, when I decided that I could do mushies but I would have to keep track of what I was eating and how much. So, I joined Weight Watchers. Diets never worked for me for very long in the past, but I figured the 3.5 week liquid diet should have shrunk my stomach a bit, and knowing I have a fill coming makes it mentally easier to hang on and not go off plan. Before surgery I didn't think I'd care if I gained a little before my fills, but now I do. I've lost 34 pounds in 4 weeks, and I just don't want to go back. I've been sticking like glue to the plan. I weigh and measure everything before I put it in the food prcessor, and I track it online as soon as I've eaten it. I eat mostly low point foods, but I've also splurged on higher point items - did you know you can process french fries? To make them mushy I mixed in some Soup, which I also have to count points for, but they still tasted like french fries, and were worth every point LOL! I've also pureed pizza with a little extra sauce - it doesn't taste like pizza by the time you add the sauce in, but it was fun. Mostly, though, I stick to low point foods: sugarfree pudding, fatfree yogurt, scrambled egg whites with fatfree salsa (pureed), boiled vegetables (pureed), unsweetened applesauce, etc. I also eat whatever my family is having for supper, measured out and pureed. All in all, I've lost 14 pounds since surgery. Anyway, that's where I'm holding now. I have my first fill next month, and I'm terrified. I hope it won't be too painful! Anyway, that's the update. Good luck to everyone on this journey!
  10. I am two weeks post opt. I have lost 20.5 pounds including pre-opt diet (10). That has dropped me one size in pants. This is great b/c most of my clothes are at this size, especially summer stuff. I had very little stuff that fit at 20 lbs heavier so I was wearing workout clothes almost all the time when I was not at work. I pulled a pile of clothes off the top shelf in the closet to see if any fit again and every single piece fit! So I immediately got a bag and threw away the very few things I had in the larger size. I have always saved clothes thinking I may gain again but this time I wont do it. I am going down and not up again! Also, someone at work told me "what ever you are doing, keep it up, you are looking good". It is nice to get this recognition only 20 lbs down. I am very excited. I cannot wait for me! I needed this boost to keep me on track now that Iam in bandster hell waiting for first fill. That is all, best wishes to all my banded buddies. Oh, my friend that had surgery the same day as me, she has already been taken off her High Blood Pressure medicine completely! It is amazing what losing weight can do for our bodies.

    Stalled

Hello all, I know this topic has been discussed at great length but sometimes it can help to write it down and get specific direction for one's self. I have stalled and have adapted some bad habits. I find myself eating Cereal for Breakfast rather than eggs, slider foods for lunch instead of grilled chicken, etc. I just recently had my most "aggressive" fill so I am excited about that but still the 9 months of hard work has paid off but I just need to get back on track. I've tried doing just liquids for a couple of days to get free from the carbs or bad habits only to find myself starving after the days of liquid. The scale hasn't moved for over 2 months and I am ready to get it moving again. I know I just need to start eating right but any other ideas? Also, as I add cardio to my routine I find myself even more hungry than when I don't work out. I know this is normal but it is a different hunger that I am not a fan of. I really want to eat a large portion after working out. Basically, just venting and looking for "here's what I have done with success when I am where you are" experiences as I know what I am going through is normal. My one year anniversary is coming up in less than 60 days and I'd like to finish the year strong and get below 195 before March 3, 2011. Any and all advice welcome.
  12. :bored:I just had surgery 5 weeks ago and have only lost 10 lbs. what am I doing wrong?
  13. Yesterday I had my first fill using xray to locate my port. It was very weird feeling, the doctor took 3 tries almost jumping on me to get the needle into the port. Finally it went in, and then the doctor tipped up the xray table and had me drink barium- while we watched the screen and he injected the saline. (no pain due to lidocaine, but lots of pressure) 1.5cc was too much (the barium stopped) and he settled on 1.2cc. Apparently there is a new lap band he started using 3 months ago... sounds different than others I've heard about where they add 5cc. So I am back to liquids for 2 days, then onto mush for 2 then I can start some "real grownup food." I'm almost feeling human again and semi-normal, but back to the very full feeling with each sip.
  14. It's been 4 weeks since my surgery and I am finally beginning to get the hang of things. Started the gym last week and even though it's a slow process it felt great to walk on the treadmill. I am down 37 pounds since surgery and it feels great. Im hoping not to catch this stomach bug that's been going around. It's already entered my home just trying to keep far away from my family. Other than that feeling great with my progress. Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App
  15. After 1 week pre-op diet and 2 weeks post-op I had lost 38lbs but like almost everyone else I'm stuck in my 3 week stall. How long did yours last?

  20. Well it has been a rough week. Stayed true to the diet. Had to resume meds except diabetes. I feel so much better. I have to push walking next week.

  21. 3.5 weeks until surgery!!! I am approved and ready to go!! Need to lose my a little weight by Dec 23rd. I can't believe it! I'm soooooo excited!!!!

  22. I am betting you feel extremely better within a week! as you know I had my lap band the same day as you - this was my 4th surgery to my abdomen via laproscopic. My port hurts when I turn a certain way and the smallest burp bubbles are uncomfortable, other then that I am not hungry and holding down clear and milky proteins. I pray you feel better real soon!

  24. ONE WEEK AWAY TO CHANGE MY LIFE!

  25. Down 54 pounds per my last official weigh-in. But more importantly, went on three different hikes (including one straight up a mountain) on one day, and still had energy left by the end!
