I have no problem with confidence , never did or meeting people, I just don't stay interested long these day. Im just too busy , focused and refuse to deal with bs so I'd rather be single. This isn't a new thing or a weight (weight loss) thing either. Lol and I'm definitely not kissing everyone out there because now I believe they all have herpes 😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😑

Clothes! Clothes! Clothes! Besides necessity, there are a few reasons it is fun: 1. I am no longer limited to plus sizes. Exploring stores and having more options is amazing, whole new world of possibilities. 🤩 2. My body has a better shape so it is actually possible to look good in clothes. I don't feel like a blob anymore 😊 3. If done right, shopping is decent exercise. Lots of walking. Bring a water bottle and get to work! 😉 Side note: I do love pedicures, but have actually gone less since losing weight bc it is also kinda exciting how easily I can reach my toes! No more huffing and puffing!

With all due respect, you are making a judgement. "We all know people who go a little extreme with both diet and exercise and I don't want that to be me." That's YOUR opinion. But what if they are perfectly satisfied and living a happy balanced life TO THEM? Just because it would make your life uncomfortable does not mean your way is the right way and their way is wrong. There are many paths to the same truth. "We all have a friend or coworker that doesn't stop talking about every meal or their gym routine..." Really? I think that also sounds like a judgement and maybe you are sensitive to that so it registers with you. "Worrying about every calorie or obsessing about every workout isn't really healthy in the long run." Of course it isn't. But again, that's your perspective. ARE they truly worrying about every last morsel? Maybe they track things more detailed than you. Maybe they meal plan. But obsessing? How are you qualified to make that mental health assessment. I think you are judging. Just because you are different doesn't make you right and them wrong. And this is what I object to about the left turn this thread went in. I'm so absolutely tired of people not just living and letting people live. I'm so sick of being hammered and shamed if my way is different. In RL and online. What makes you and authority? What makes Summerset? And even more...how does anyone who lacked the basic skills in understanding dietary moderation PRE-surgery, just "magically" wake up the next day after surgery and suddenly develop those abilities inately for the rest of their lives? LOL. I call BS and shenanigans. Why? Cuz stomachs heal and restriction loosens. You can eat more. You can eat bad foods. You start groovin on living life and you add back alcohol. And it's a recipe for "magic moderation regain." On this board right now, there are 2 such posts about the subject. Over the last 18months I've seen 100s of these threads. I'm gonna place my bet on @skinnylife @BigViffer @Biddy zz and @Diana in Philly those types of people with focus and plans that they will continue to live excellent, rewarding lives of health, happiness and normal weight.

How’s the taste of that particular brand. My surgery date is 10/24 and can’t seem to find one I really like. Have you tried the grass fed protein Ones?

Hi guys I made to the other side. My surgery was yesterday around 11am. I got to hospital at 8am and immediately they took me to the preparation area. It tooks about 3hrs to get me ready for the operation room. Nurse, surgeon, anesthesia team talked to me one by one before surgery. At some point I got desperate bc I was so hungry and sleepy that I just wanted to be in the operation table. Besides the preparation process was very pleasant and informative my family and 2 friends got to meet all the persons that were going to take care of me during the surgery. I woke up around 5pm already in my room. The hungry pain felt so strong in my stomach that I even wasn't thinking on my surgery pain. The gas pain is another thing but I have to say that as soon your start walking you start releasing those gasses and the pain goes away significantly. I'm right now at the hospital and I should be heading home around 3pm, that what I've been told. That's my update so far.

Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies: POST-OP Discussion
Megan Sadler replied to Ylime's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My husband just wants me to do squats so he has a handle. Was just shocked at how much they shrunk. Now mind you I breast fed up untill I left for the hospital and then quit cold turkey then and there. -
I am still in the losing phase. Haven't dealt with maintenance yet, but it sounds nice since that means you have met goal! Great post. I am definitely interested in how everyone gets to thier own version of balance. I do not want to track obsessively for the rest of my life. Sometimes when people describe the things they do it starts to sound like disordered eating, not new healthy habits. I totally relate to the last thing the Summerset said. In social settings, I do not want to be known as "formerly fat". My identity is much more than that. What I can and can not eat should not dominate the conversation everytime I am out with friends. Eventually I won't have any. I do not want to miss events or fun things in life bc I can't mess up my gym routine. But none of that means I do not want to have a reasonable, healthy life of moderation.

Requirements for Blue Shield of California
kmn1109 replied to cableworth's topic in Insurance & Financing
I'm with Blue Shield/Covered California. I was extremely disappointed to learn that my Blue Shield coverage only covers doctors and facilities in a select list, all of which are in Southern California. The closest one to me is 6 hrs away. Even though they have a bunch of bariatric surgery centers listed on their website and the surgeons I tried to schedule appts with are in network, because my plan was through Covered California, I can only go to a doctor who is 6 hrs away. So if you're reading this thread because you have Blue Shield in California through Covered California, you only have the option of one of a dozen centers in Southern California--nothing north of Bakersfield. If you're "regular" Blue Shield, you have more options. If you're regular BS through your employer, you have to be sure that the employer has not excluded WLS from their benefits (some cheapo employers do that to keep rates down). -

Did you solve your “head hunger” before surgery?
Matt Z replied to Chevron's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It'll never fully go away. But understanding the triggers helps. For me, I stood in front of the candy Isle and looked at all the candy that I love, and internally said "F you candy, you are tasty but you are not good for me, you only work to make me feel like crap, yes, I'll enjoy you for a moment, but the damages you cause are not worth the momentary good taste." I confronted everything I wouldn't be able to or shouldn't eat again, head on. It's helped out greatly. I also found swaps for things. Finding something that will satisfy the craving while still being within your diet restrictions helps greatly. I was a HUGE Ice Cream guy. Can't do that crap anymore, I found Halo Top "ice cream" that's super low in calories and fits my post bypass restrictions. I typically only eat 1/8th of a pint or so, but even if I ate the whole pint, it's still only a max of 320 calories or so. Things like that, find things you can substitute for the bad stuff. It helps get you through the mental BS. It did for me anyway, maybe it'll work out for someone else. -

He said hed go over options with me in my final follow up... -
Aunt flo is killing me! Any advice?
TakingABreak replied to Real California April's topic in The Gals' Room
Could you do an IUD? I'm normally not an advocate, but in your situation if you can't take BC pills, I would recommend something to regulate your hormones and cycles. Have you met with your gyno since surgery to discuss your increased flow? -
So the doc wants me on a stool softener daily pretty much. He said to use MiraLax and instead of it helping my stool soften, im staying constipated and getting awful tummy cramps. Im going to call him tomorrow bc hes in surgery all day today, but has this happened to anyone else?

Not trying to "win" anything. Just pointing out that this is a wls forum where we should be discussing wls not bashing a group of people. I came here to read about wls not transphobic bs. This type of content should be removed. Sent from my SM-G960U using BariatricPal mobile app -
Chapstick for when you are in the hospital. It saved me. Also, I had a phone charger that had a light up cord. It was easy to find considering all the other wires and stuff I had going on (two IVs, a heart monitor and about 6 leads attached to my body). I also bought a water bottle with the fluid ounces on it so I could monitor how much I was drinking when I was home recovering. Lots of people get gasx strips for the hospital. I bought them but did not need them. For when you're home, comfortable clothing. You're basically going to be walking, drinking water/protein and sleeping lol If you buy protein shakes, get more than one flavor. I only bought caramel and now I won't even touch them bc that's all I drank for a week.

Congratulations on your surgery! For the vitamins, try one of those vitamin holds that has different compartments. I have one that has four compartments per day and throw it in my purse so I never forget to take my vitamins. For the calcium, try the bariatric advantage calcium chewables. They taste like starburst. The calcium citrate pills are huge, no matter which brand. The liquids are very important the first few weeks bc it's easy to become dehydrated. No one likes the diet the first few weeks but you will be so happy once you can start eating soft foods and regular foods! Good luck!

BCBSIL Duodenal Switch- Has anyone been approved?
misskim3297 replied to trilla's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
I was approved for DS surgery through BCBSIL but it took multiple submissions. They were very picky about all the paperwork. It was denied the first time bc they couldn't find the cover page for the 45 pages that were faxed over. The bariatric coordinator had to offer/threaten to have the surgeon contact the insurance company. Then it got approved lol My BMI was over 50 so I didn't have that issue. You just have to keep on the insurance company and your surgeon's office. Good luck! -
Post op pain - be honest
TX4everLinds replied to tahoegirl96118's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My story is different than most. I’m 12 days post op. Was hospitalized on day 10/11 due to pain nausea and heartburn. I still can’t keep anything down. They’re saying it’s reflux so I’m praying it passes. I’m pretty miserable and barely drinking anything. Pain meds made it worse bc constipation but they did help me sleep at first. -
5 days post op VGS, but I don't feel different
notaslavetofood replied to notaslavetofood's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes! I've been kind of freaked out at how well I've tolerated liquids and how thirsty I stay. I haven't had any problems drinking other than having to stop myself from guzzling just bc i was told it will come back up or hurt. Thank you!! Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app -
5 days post op VGS, but I don't feel different
notaslavetofood replied to notaslavetofood's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you so much. I've been a little discouraged today bc of it. I'm SO thankful my recovery has been smooth so far but I was a little concerned bc I don't "feel" different. I guess it's just a process of retraining my mind as I go? Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app -
Rant away! But it may be best to have it when the nurse's aren't striking or thinking about striking. Can you imagine recovery care with fed up nurses? No thanks... Hopefully they resolve it and your surgery happens soon!

There is a difference between unflavored and flavorless. Unflavored only means that there is no flavoring added to cover the natural flavor of whatever protein they are selling. Flavorless is just about unobtainable unless you look at Genepro which is snakeoil. Totally worthless BS from an unreputable company. But it mixes well and has no flavor, so many people buy it.

Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies: POST-OP Discussion
AEdoesRnY replied to Ylime's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I’m trying to get up the courage to wear this dress to work tomorrow. It’s definitely not my usual style bc usually I hide in basics, but I bought this from Amazon for like $19 and I really like it but feel self-conscious and unsure... Edited to add a pic from 1 week post op for comparison...though the clothing and stance is really not apples to apples! Yea or nay? -
How much time off from work?
rosie6 replied to Swanton_Bomb's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You must work for NYC as I had the same issue. GHI says that you can have it with 3 months supervised however the city has contracted with BC/BS to approve the procedure and they have a 6 month rule that they use. Makes no sense to me that GHI says three months when they know that it s not an honest statement . I plan on taking off one week . Two at the most and I commute as well. I think that if you get up and start exercising for 20 mintues per day starting day 1 it helps you get your energy and strength back faster. What hospital are you using ? My MD submitted the pre approval at 3 months and it was denied , but his office kep the case open and I was approved three days after they submitted the 6 months of medical notes. My surgery is Sept 25
