I felt groggy but nurses were there to talk to me and make sure I was ok, they check your vitals to maintain you. I felt sore and tummy incisions sore but I had steri strips so I couldn't see incisions. As I was wheeled to a room they kept oxygen on me because I was fairly low. They want that oxygen to go up before releasing you. I was allowed to drink warm water in sips and small souffle style cups of protein drink. I had to get up later and walk. You will have compression things on your legs to help prevent blood clots. You need to walk too. It wasn't a bad experience, I was just super tired. Went in at morning but didn't go hone til 10:00 at night.

I had a revision from band 2/11...so far I haven't felt hungry. By day 7 with the band I was ravenous!!! (If I get queasy it means i waited too long to eat so basically every 2-3 hours I have a little something so I don't get queasy). I haven't really felt full but after 4-5 bites but just don't feel like eating any more so i am assuming that's full....I lost 14 lbs the 2 weeks pre-op and 10 in the 3 weeks post-op...I'm not blowing the scales up like a lot of folks around here but am steady at 3 pounds a week.... I'll take 3 pounds a week and not starving any day!!! Good luck!!!! (I've also went back to work part time on day 10 post op then full time on day 15....it's been a great recovery other than fatigue) HW 312, pre-op (lap-band) 294, pre-op (RNY) 255, surgery date 2/11/13, goal weight 154, current weight 231.4

You look beautiful and amazing, one thing I can tell from your photos is how friendly and positive you are and how your inner beauty shines through! God Bless you! You are doing fine and on the right road to a new life in health. One day not too far from now you will look back on these photos and say "That was me?" I know how you feel I have clothes that I wore a few years ago that I can still get in to and not that much change from then, but from where I got to, LOL, there is change, down 84 lbs now 10 months out, feelin great! I know this is a forever committment and I will be smaller yet next year this time, looking forward to hitting my goal of 100 lbs. Continued wishes for your success! Will keep in touch. -
Does your Dr put in a fill during surgery or does he make you wait 6weeks????
Carlene replied to shell04937's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had to wait 5 weeks after surgery before I got my first fill. It's hard to be patient, I know, but you have to think of this in the long-term. In my case, it has taken almost 2 years to lose 97 pounds. I am still about 10 pounds from goal, but I don't really work at losing any more, so it serves me right. I wear a size 2/4 and couldn't be happier - except for the vacant skin that is still (literally) hanging around. Depending on which band you have, it may take several fills to achieve good restriction. Don't expect to hit the "sweet spot" with your first one. One more thing....you will do 100 times better if you follow the bandster rules. Eat protein first, then veggies, then carbs. Stay away from liquid calories (ice cream, chocolate, etc) and exercise. GOOD LUCK!!! -
10:00 am Breakfast: SF pudding, Atkins shake 11:30 am Snack: 1/2 cheese stick, 1/2 avacodo 1:00 pm Lunch: Extremely cooked and tender Pork chop smothered in Cream of Mushroom soup 6:00 pm Supper: Chicken breast chopped w/Mushroom soup, sm. Banana Vitamins: 1 Viactiv Multi 2 Viactiv calciums Water: 60 oz. at least Goal: If I don't show loss in the morning I'll know I had too many calories today. Cut back on calories if need be.

It's time for a my third Fill. Traveling to Seoul Korea again early Sat. This "Fill" will mean I have 6 cc's in a 11 cc band. And liquids for a few days.:smile2: Can't Wait as I am sure the weight loss will occur. Weight has decreased to 243#s from 270, 4 Jan 10. Not bad with some exercise thrown in. Feeling more energetic everyday, wearing old clothes stored away during the past few years and feeling great about myself is the positive results of having lap band surgery. Glad I did it.

Most unusual food in your tracker..?
blondegal_ replied to FLORIDAYS's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I put in my vitamins. Mainly so I can remember to take them. But they count as almost 10 calories. Lol. -
Oh I have lots of stories like this! I still have two weeks before my surgery, but I can't wait until I don't have to worry about the size of my body interfering with my life! I wouldn't say my moments are so much embarrassing to me, but they all cause me anxiety! 1. Broke our toilet seat 2. Barely fit into the rides at Universal Studios (It was a struggle, and very uncomfortable) 3. Broke one of my mom's metal patio chairs... it was pretty rusted, in my defense 4. Threw my boyfriend onto the bed and then jumped on after him... then one of the legs broke off... 5. Barely fit into plane seats (I have to let the slack all the way out) 7. Lived in Denmark for six months, and barely fit into the LARGEST clothing size I could find in my town. 8. Could not find a pair of winter boots while I was in Denmark because my calves were too big for all of them. 9. Had to ask my boyfriend to let me wear his boxer-briefs while we were walking to a concert because I was chafing so badly in the dress I was wearing. 10. Broke off the heel on one of my favorite pairs of shoes.

OK...I was sleeved in KY on 10/13/11 and also had a hiatel hernia repair and gallbladder removal. I am sore but it isnt really in my middle abdomen it is mostly upper abdomen and shoulders, some in my legs. I put on 14 lbs in the hosptial which I am assuming is Water weight from the 12 IV bags they ran through me in 2 days (I counted) and today I am down 2.5 lbs of that. What is worrying me is that I am having major trouble getting in my Protein, all of them make me nauseous. And that I counted today and I got in 60 oz if Fluid (low cal gatorade, water, tea-decaf) but only 50 calories. I am not hungry usually. I think that I am feeling full when I start feeling like I have heartburn. I just cant tell because I never feel hungry or full. Is any of this making sense? Suggestions?

Now that I am thin and leaving the house more than I used to, I'm trying to update my wardrobe. The clothes part is going okay but I decided I wanted a pair of ankle boots to wear with jeans instead of my trainers or loafers. I have tried on ten or twelve pairs and all of them make my legs look like saplings growing out of a bucket. Am I trying on the wrong styles? Do I want a bootie instead (they all seem to have spiky heels which frighten me with their height). I don't want UGGs or western but something stylish with not too high a heel that kind of hugs the ankle but is loose enough to stuff in leggings or jeans. I am 57, 5'8" and weigh 137. I wear size 6 clothes but I have size 10 feet. I have come to depend on the stylish folks on this forum to help me make these puzzling decisions. Do you have any advice?

When I read interesting posts from interesting people, I always like to know more about them....so I go to the profile and it's amazing how often (I would say 8 or 9 times out of 10) that people here have not completed their profile or added photos....not trying to be nosy, but this is interesting stuff and I feel like we are a hui (group) of people with common interests, challenges and questions. This forum has helped me beyond my expectations (I was sleeved in Germany and have been living in Hawaii.....so not exactly convenient), plus I never had a nutritionist. So I come here for lots of information. Have 'friended' many but it's just nice to know where people started and see a photo. So just my little request....that and also, be sure you have your SIGNATURES turned on (if you are not seeing my signature and link to my blog below then that means you aren't seeing anyone's signature or ticker tapes....I had mine off unknowingly for a long time). Go to your name/settings/NewsFeed and check the box towards the bottom that says Display Signature Changes. I love this community and just want to know more about people! -
Hello Sleever People! I had my surgery January 25, 2010 with Dr. Aceves in Mexico and have never once looked back. I was on this board pretty much 24/7 pre-op and for a long time post op and one of the things that I desperately wished for more of was feedback from people that were "long term" sleevers. We seem to be few and far between and I swore I would provide regular updates... fail!!! And I apologize to any of you that, like me, wish for more of the "big picture" - no pun intended! It's true that we simply get on with life after surgery and before we know it, life has been blowing by and suddenly it's been some fantastic years gone by - you'll see, trust me! So, the long and short of my sleeve experience has been incredible – there truly are no words to describe one of the absolute best decisions I’ve ever made for myself. I started at 254 and lost exactly 100 pounds well before the end of the year. I ate low carb and drank Protein shakes forever it seemed. About a year and change after surgery, after maintaining a size 4/6 154# for months, I started gaining – eeekk!!! – I attributed this primarily to nursing school (which I started the same week of my vsg and have since finished and am now working in an ER – whole nuther story!) and grazing all day. Cashews are the devils work, btw!! I was scared and worried but stopped gaining after slowly putting back on 20 pounds. I’ve lost five of that since, am now in a size 8/10 and have been holding there for some time. I truly eat what I want within reason. I’m in a good place mentally and physically. I have been at this weight for over a year now. I 100% BELIEVE THAT EXERCISE IS CRUCIAL TO YOUR SUCCESS LONG TERM!!!!! So commit to it, the sleeve, while a fantastic tool, WILL NOT solve all of your problems if you aren’t prepared to take care of yourself and having the sleeve makes it easy!! Like any “diet” or whatever, the long term is the trick; you will be able to eat A LOT more as time goes on yet nothing like before. You WILL be able to eat enough and often enough to gain weight if you are not aware. But it’s different. I would have easily gained that 100# back by now, that I know. So, for me, to compensate for eating so-so, I bicycle competitively and long-distance; average 50 miles every other day at about 19mph. I have a group that I ride with but do it often on my own too. Burns a gajillion calories. I guess the bottom line is that your life is going to be absolutely incredible post-op BUT, you will always have to be aware of what’s going in and out. The story about the woman who gained all her weight back cuz she would order an xl pizza and work on it all day? I can see that!! Yikes! But, you know what? Don’t buy the stupid pizza!! Easy!! I wish you all the very best and please feel free to contact me to vent, ask questions, whatever, I’m happy to help and happy to be here for you. richcoast@yahoo.com Carol

Three years last month, June 10, 2010 is when my life changed. I hang out here on VSG and am headed to one of my 'in person' support groups today at 12:30 here in Plano. I attend three others. I love them, I WISH I'd run across others as far out as I am. We are few and far between......once in a while there will be someone else that is three years out, I don't know if I've run across anybody further out than I am. I like to answer questions and play 'cheerleader'. I love encouraging these people to continue to attend the meetings, there is always someone who wants to pick your brain. I figure I'm paying it forward. So many people HERE and in the support groups that are doctor sponsored, answered MY questions, gave suggestions and were just NICE!!! I'm lucky, my husband, who is my biggest cheerleader go with me to all these meetings. He gets involved, takes notes and even asks questions when we have a speaker or if someone is struggling. Good luck and keep posting, you never know who you might be helping.

I read someones journal (Moorless) and she mentioned this time of year your body wants to put on extra weight for the winter, and I am so feeling that today. Im craving starchy fatty foods! I will not succumb to its pull however, instead I will journal .. and exercise! 7:30 am Breakfast: Atkins + Unjury. 1:00 pm Lunch: LQ Swedish Meatballs, a couple bites of left over taco meat. 5:00 pm Snack: SF chocolate pudding. 7:00 pm Supper: 1/2 a steak grilled, 3/4 cup potatoes, 1/2 cup green beans. Vitamins: 2 Tbs. multi, 1 Calcium, 1500 mcg biotin. Exercise: 15 Min 3mph 5% incline, 10 Min. 3.3mph 5% incline, 5 Min. 4 mph 0% incline. Water: >70 oz. I just got done exercising too! Yippee, I really pushed myself today. When I got on the scale it said 207.6... then later I weighed myself it said 209. Grr tomorrow if it says anything below 209 Im changing my ticker immediately. 209:fencing:207 Goal: I kept the calories to about 1000 today. I exercised pretty hard for my abilitys. I really hope Im down at least a few ounces tomorrow!! Oh well at least im getting toned everytime I exercise.. that counts for a lot. So my goal for tomorrow is to exercise and no ice cream.

Funny how weight can be relative. I'm laughing right now reading my last entry. It's been 9+ months and I wish I weighed 264.5, heck I'd take 265! Oh well. I'm back on track and that's the important thing. I've gotten very good at giving myself pep talks and keeping a positive attitude. I know that is key. I find myself on occasion feeling depressed about how much I weigh now compared to a year ago, or thinking about how I thought that by this point I would be at or close to goal. Who knew I'd have a beautiful little baby girl and hit a temporary road block with losing weight. Thinking about it doesn't change anything, so I have to look to today to what I'm going to do to change my eating behavior and my exercise routine, and look to all that the future holds for my health and weight. I've been on track now just a short few days, but I feel very powerful. It's that feeling of accomplishment. I've gone to the gym like I committed. I've been drinking protein and water. I've set some very high goals for my weight loss. I know that they are very high and somewhat unrealistic. I am participating in the National Body Challenge, which started this past Saturday 1/13 and goes until 3/10 (8weeks) My goal is to lose 50lbs in these 8 weeks. I know I have to work harder than ever to accomplish this. My next goal is to weigh under 181 by July 10th (Isabel's 1st birthday). That's just about 100 in 6 months. Focus, focus, focus

I had my first fill about 2 weeks ago on thursday, he put 3 cc's of Fluid in my 11 cm band. I still feel like I'm able to eat waaaaaaaaaaay too much. Just now I had 2 steaks a, little brocoli and some shrimp. and those steaks weren't small either. they were long. medium sized steaks. Why is this? I've been trying to go walking, because the gym doesn't seem that appetizing for me? Can anyone tell me what to do to prevent from eating so much? And just in case anyone is wondering this is what I had today Breakfast: 1 bowl of shredded mini wheats w/ skim milk Snack: 1/2 of Cinnamon Crunch Bagel from Panera Bread w/ reduced fat hazelnut cream cheese Lunch: 2 slices of beef brisket, and about 1 cup of fries a couple of cinnamon sliced apples Dinner: Steak (approx.6-7 oz.) about 10 shrimp a little cajun rice and broccoli :help:
