Did you gain the muscle back?

I take testosterone shots each week which help with building muscle. If you don't get enough Protein your not going to gain muscle. You can most definitely gain muscle. Look into Testosterone injections. It is a huge help. I found out that my Testosterone numbers dropped drastically after surgery. They upped my dose and I'm back to normal. The weight loss has slowed for me, but I'm still losing inches and my waist size continues to shrink. I also need to up my calorie intake. Back to eating ice cream every night again. Last time I did that, I think I lost 9 lbs in a 7 day period.
  2. How long did u guys wait before going back to the course. Tuesday ill be starting my 6th week post opp
  3. Well as I approach the 3 month mark, which is still a week away, I continue to lose weight. It is going slow and steady now but that's just fine. I am happy to with the weight loss and love being under 400 lbs and slowly working towards my next goal of 350 lbs. Another 2 lbs gone this week just goes to show that I do continue to lose the weight and am keeping the weight off. This last couple of weeks have been pretty stressful and my temptations to emotional eat have been higher then normal. I have been resisting fairly well but for some stupid reason we bought grape juice this week and I just about drank the whole thing in two days flat. One thing I am to avoid is liquid calories and all grape juice is is liquid calories. Sure there is some nutritional value to it but it's more carbs then it is helpful. At least at this point in time for me it is. Last Sunday Karen and I went to the workout room here at the apartments and I found myself rather lost in there as to what to do. I have never taken any weight training classes and now think to myself that I should have. I look at the equipment and I understand how a lot of it works but I have no idea how to put together a routine. I should probably do some research before I go back there again so I have a solid plan as to what I will do in there. So for now it's getting back to the Biggest Loser workout DVD's that I have been doing. So down to 394 lbs this week. It just dawned on my that it will be just another 9 lbs and I will have reached the 100 lbs lost mark. It's hard to believe sometimes that first of all that I did weigh that much but secondly that I have lost that much. It's a great feeling to know that I have clothes now that don't fit not because they are to small but now that they are to big. So pushing forward I will continue to do and keep on losing those pounds to live a healthier and happier life!
  4. My steri-strips are starting to come loose but the wounds underneath are still healing. I have been on liquids all week but tonight I was able to eat about 1/3 c. of fat free refried Beans with some taco bell sauce squirted on top and a little dollup up of guac. I can lay on my stomach again finally but still a little tender going to/from this position. Sitting up straight in my jeans still uncomfortable so I have been wearing dresses to work. I am a slow healer. :cursing: But I am healing and thats whats important! My follow up is on 9/2... can't wait to see my loss.
  5. You two are doing great. I have had my first fill and did okay with it but I am noticing my food choices aren't the best. I have been lucky no slimin or PB'in so I am reluctant to fill again. I've lost 4 pounds in 5 weeks since the fill. I've got 4.6 in the band. Most of the time if I eat real slow I notice the difference. I just started back swiming and am trying to do it everyday. I've been a slug after work lately. Good luck on your jouneys, you both are doing great!!!!It needed to be said again we tend to be hard on ourselves.
  6. Ok I am one week post op today, and for the last 2 days I feel like I have food stuck in my throat, I have only eaten soups and a little bit of applesauce. It does seem to go away for a little while but then returns, now i have the feelin since early this afternonn with no relief. I tried to bring it up but got nothing but clear mucus and thats it. Help, what is it and what do I do?

I know what people mean now....

Hi Sam! Yep, Im one of those folks too! At this point (6 months after my last fill), since my restriction is stronger on some days then others, I dont think I could handle another fill. BUT - a week after this fill and I was planning the next one. Only time will tell.... Good luck - maybe this is the magic fill level for you
  8. When they say their fills "kick in" after a few weeks. I had my last fill 4 weeks ago (I am filled to 3.4ml after 4 fills) and it kicked in over the last few days. I havent had this happen with the other fills, so I was really surprised when I started feeling more restriction. I am so happy!

    Quick Question...

I had asked my doctor and he told me that I can wet the scars one week after the surgery and that I can also go swimming. Well, it's 3,5 weeks since I had the surgery and I have alreday gone swimming in the sea 5 times and have no problem. I went swimming for the first time 10 days after the surgery. But it's better for you to apply to the scars a healing cream, like madecassol, so that they will heal faster.
  11. Hi, it will be 3 weeks post op on Tuesday 3rd January so starting to think of what to eat when I start puréed food on my 4th week. Any ideas? Sent from iPad in the UK
  12. Just wanted to introduce myself! I'm Tara, I live in Utah and I'm looking forward to surgery. I haven't yet found a surgeon as I'm currently saving but hope to have the funds before the year is out. Disappointed my insurance doesn't cover WLS as I desperately need it but trying to just get over it and take care of myself. My BMI is 46 and it's been a full 10 years or more I've been this obese - ever since my first child. I can't wait to get to know the rest of you here and so grateful to have found this board! Also, I do CrossFit and it's the hardest thing I've ever done but I've been at it nearly a year (about 3 days a week) and I feel healthy and strong except for my weight so there's that

    Reactive hypoglycemia

I definately have this issue although it has improved. It stems from letting too many carbs into your diet. I like cream of wheat Cereal in the am and if I don't follow that after about an hour with some type of Protein like cheese, Protein Bar or even lunch meat, I will get an episode that simply keeps on going throughout the day. I have found them to be pretty dangerous because they come on very fast and I have found myself confused and feeling like crap fast. I get the shakes so bad that i sometimes cannot even stick myself to get a glucose reading. My sugar got so low a couple of weeks ago that it read 32. That was a nasty episode and I had glucose tablets but could not find them. Since that horrible incident, I try to really limit my sugar intake and I am much more careful now but I will always have glucose tablets at hand just in case. It works the fastest for me when it happens but I want to avoid it happening.

    My first fill

Well I got my first fill today 10/4/2006 and I had a little trouble drinking the water they gave me because he filled it too much, but then he took some saline out and I felt much better. I have been able to eat and keep it down, even though I feel a little weird in my chest area. I am gonna give it a couple of days to see if this is just the side effects of the fill. It wasn't painful at all, I didn't even feel the prick in my stomach. I have lost 24 lbs in the past 6 weeks and should start losing 1-2 lbs for the next few weeks as that is the norm. If I don't then they will fill me again. I have to let my doctor know how my progress is going. :nervous

    12 Days Post Op!!

Good luck! You're having more real food than I was so soon after the surgery. I couldn't have any real food for 3 1/2 weeks. I have been on real food for about 10-12 days and love it! One food that I am allowed is crab meat and I love lump crab. I eat it a lot and it goes down great.I have the hip cups when I eat too fast or drink too fast. I get them a few times a day. Burping, I have always done and passing gas I think is from my shakes. I use a blender with lots of ice to make a really thick shake.

    Protein powder

I plan to find an unflavored I can handle, I haven't start trying them yet but will once I get a surgery date. I think those sweet pre-made shakes would get old really fast and getting enough protein from your food would be hard the first few weeks or months because the sleeve can only hold so much. People mix unflavored with jello and pudding mixes, water with flavoring like Crystal Light, even things like Cream of Wheat and soups. You can puree the soup and put it in that (just watch the temp, if you mix it with something too hot it will clump)

    Got banded this morning....Feb 5, 2014

It took about a week to get it all gone for me. However, I did end up back at the hospital for dehydration and a UTI. But all is well now. I feel great! Yesterday was the 4th, so it was weigh in day. I lost 16 pounds for the first month. I get my first fill on March 19. So that will be the next step. Just take it day by day. It will get better and better. Congrats and you will do great!

    No weight loss

I had my first fill three weeks ago and I have my second fill next Monday. I felt a little restriction after the first fill, but very little. I am really looking for my second fill. I really haven't lost any weight in a month and I'm feeling discouraged. Although I do know that before I had my first fill I wasn't always choosing the right food to eat. I felt hungry all the time and i ate all the time. Since the last fill I had cut down my portions alot and was really hoping to see a loss, but I haven't. :rose:
  21. I am currently on atkins for a few weeks and it is really helping along. I am starting to see the scale move as long as I move my butt also.
  22. @Justweight If you've been accused of faking your experience then you understand that those people are faking their support and don't deserve to be heard. I am almost 4 weeks post op. I never had head hunger although if you call some slight regret head hunger then maybe I did for a day or so. I struggle with no hunger at all so getting in my protein and water are really tough for me. I did the taste and spit 1 week after surgery because I was making a new recipe and didn't want to serve something gross to my family. It tasted like cardboard to me anyway so I had my husband try it. It is not too late and you haven't sabotaged yourself. When taste and spit enters your mind think about your committed self right before surgery, the vision of yourself healthy, or just walk away from the food and journal or meditate. Anything to move your mind back to its healthy state because taste and spit is not a healthy state. When you move beyond soft foods and are given the green light to eat possible failure is eminent. These weeks before full diet phase are designed to change the relationship you have with food not just to heal your tummy. Taste and spit is not a healthy relationship. Good luck. Reading these messages boards is a great way to distract yourself from slipping. Take care.
  23. Hello, Anyone from Fresno California area? Last week Friday day all my paper work was submitted to insurance. I'm crossing my fingers that I am approved! If approved, Dr. Felix will be doing my lap-bad, he seems super nice. Anyways, after i'm banded I will be looking for an exercise partner. Anyone up for it?
  24. Okay! Here it goes. I had surgery on the 17th of Feb. Today marks 2 weeks post op. Surgery went well. Spent 3 days and 2 nights in the hospital. The 1st day I accidentally ate an orange and almost died. The 1st week I did well. Protein shake and Oikos yogurts and pain pills. The doctor told me to increase my Water intake but I just can't drink two bottles a day. This week I felt hungry. I was starving. The Protein shakes weren't cutting it. I decided to start soft food earlier. He's the confession. I would chew the food and spit it out. I had some meatballs, and fish, and food I know I shouldn't be eating. I told myself that because I'm not actually swallowing it then I should be fine. Today I feel horrible. I know that habit is a bad one and I should stop before it gets out of hand. I decided to start this week over and go back to full liquids. Today I restocked on protein, yogurt, Jello and water. I'm going to do it the right way this time.
  25. after surgery you will have a lot of swelling. So they usually say sip your Water. As the swelling goes away you can try to return back to drinking normally. just don't gulp your water. (it took me over a week to be able to get a full bottle of water. after that I was able to drink fine. ) for an egg I spend about 5-6 mins eating it. just because we are suppose to take small bites and chew it well, about 20-30 seconds per bite. your whole meal should take about 30 mins to consume. so if you have chicken, the piece of chicken shouldnt be bigger that your hand. for your sides they should be a cup each. so if you have two sides I take ten minutes for each item. sometimes with meat you might want to take your time and really chew it. so if you need extra time, please take it. you don't want to hurt yourself or the band. just remember to take small bites and chew really well. as long as you use portion control and take small bites you will be fine. good luck!!!
